Liverpool's Premier League title chances predicted as former Manchester United star weighs in
Former Manchester United star and Premier League winner Phil Jones is confident Liverpool will be crowned champions in May ahead of title rivals Arsenal.
Liverpool has only lost two games in all competitions under new manager Arne Slot. Just one of those defeats has come in the league via Nottingham Forest, and the Reds' fine form has seen them build a six-point buffer between themselves and title rivals Arsenal while also holding a game in hand.
Jones, 32, knows a thing or two about winning the Premier League, having played for Sir Alex Ferguson's 2012/13 team in the Scotsman's final season in charge at Old Trafford, and the former defender is predicting Liverpool to lift the Premier League trophy later this year, with Slot's men hard to stop.

Jones also highlighted the injury suffered by Arsenal's key man Bukayo Saka as a significant boost for the Reds as they look to expand their lead over the Gunners. "I think Liverpool have got a knack at the minute of when they're not playing well, they've managed to win the game, and I think that's a sign of champions," Jones told Liverpool.com ahead of his participation in the upcoming Icons Series in Bangkok, Thailand.
"Arsenal look like they've stuttered a little bit of late, whether it's a couple of draws or whether they're missing that number nine that people talk about so frequently over the last couple of years. You've got Bukayo Saka out; Saliba's been missing the last couple of games, which is a huge loss for them.
"I think he's [Saliba] a terrific player. So maybe Arsenal have got a couple of bad injuries at the wrong time. I think Liverpool's squad has got a lot more depth to it, especially in the attacking areas than what Arsenal have. So what is it, eight or nine points [six] clear or something with a game in hand?
"I'm not too sure about the points tally, but I think Liverpool has just got a little bit too much for people to catch them this year. And like I said, with the depth of the squad they've got, they can rotate and have the luxury of rotating in games; it doesn't affect them too much."
Following the EFL Cup first-leg semifinal defeat to Tottenham earlier this month, Slot has refocussed his team, putting together a five-game winning streak. Their most recent result was a comfortable 4-1 win over Premier League strugglers Ipswich Town at home.
Up next, Liverpool will look to secure top spot in the Champions League group stage with a win in Game 8 over PSV. A defeat would hand Barcelona the chance to snatch the top spot, with the Catalan team three points behind the Reds heading into the final gameweek.
