Man United forced Mathys Tel transfer decision as fresh pathway emerges for two youngsters
Manchester United ended the January transfer window having made two first-team additions.
Ayden Heaven arrived from Arsenal on Saturday to become their first new recruit of the winter. The 18-year-old joined United on a four-and-a-half year deal and is set to immediately link up with Ruben Amorim's squad.
Then, hours before United's 2-0 reverse at home against Crystal Palace, Patrick Dorgu made a £29.5million move from Lecce. The 20-year-old Denmark international has put pen-to-paper on a deal until summer 2030.

There was talk that United could sign a new centre forward on deadline day, but it fast appeared that Amorim's side were not going to sign anymore players before the window closed.
Meanwhile, no other departures were confirmed either, although Tyrell Malacia is set to join PSV on loan for the remainder of the season. An announcement is expected some time on Tuesday.
With all that in mind, The Manchester Evening News takes a look at the latest in the media - and transfer stories involving United - following the close of the transfer window;
Tel decision
United decided not to sign Mathys Tel ahead of Tottenham as they considered the deal too expensive, according to The Telegraph. Ruben Amorim's side felt Bayern Munich's demand of a £5million loan fee was a 'risk' for a player who is 'largely unproven'.
Tel, who joined Bayern in a £24.4million deal from Rennes in summer 2022, has failed to score in 14 appearances for Bayern this season. Despite this, Tottenham have captured the signature of the talented 19-year-old on loan for the rest of the season. It's a dramatic U-Turn from Tel after he had initially rejected a move to Spurs.
The Manchester Evening News says: United might regret their decision not to sign Tel. Having allowed Marcus Rashford and Antony to leave in January without signing a replacement for either of them - let alone - both their attacking department has no doubt weakened.
Yes, Rashford and Antony were not integral to Amorim's first-team plans at Old Trafford but if one from Alejandro Garnacho or Amad Diallo pick up an injury, United are going to light in wide areas. For me, Tel would have been an excellent versatile option of someone that can play up front or in one of the No.10 positions.
Two departures
League Two side Tranmere Rovers completed the double signing of Sam Mather and Louis Jackson on loan from United on deadline day.
The 2022 Youth Cup winners have joined up with Nigel Adkins' side until the end of the season. Mather, 20, made 10 appearances on loan at Rochdale last season. Jackson, 19, meanwhile, is a Scotland under-19 international.
The Manchester Evening News say: This a good move, for both Mather and Jackson. Both players are talented, but need first-team experience to progress their careers. There is no better place than League Two to develop, as the division is filled with a mixture of young and exciting players but also veterans of the game.
