Manchester United release Lisandro Martinez injury statement - 'our hearts break'
Manchester United have sent their best wishes to defender Lisandro Martinez after he was carried off during the defeat to Crystal Palace.
With United 1-0 down, Martinez collapsed in a heap after an innocuous challenge saw his knee buckle from underneath him. It was clear that the injury was serious as the Argentine was in tears as he was carried off on a stretcher.
Taking to social media after the final whistle, United sent their heartfelt wishes to Martinez ahead of his recovery. "Our hearts break for you, Licha," they wrote accompanied by a heart break emoji.

"We'll be with you during your recovery and know you'll be back stronger." The exact injury that Martinez has picked up is currently unclear but Ruben Amorim admitted after the match that it seems serious.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim said: "We are going to see in the next days but I think it’s a serious situation. Not just a great player but a strong character in the dressing room.
"In this moment, it’s hard on us, but now it’s time for us to help Licha, like he helps us every day. When you are a player, you know when it’s serious.
"Let’s hope for better days for him and we are here like I said to help him in this difficult moment." The injury topped off what was a desperately bad day at the office for United.
As mentioned, United were already 1-0 down when Martinez picked up his injury but Jean-Philippe Mateta added his second of the match just before stoppage time to compound the misery.
