Rio Ngumoha shows why Liverpool signed him as he goes back to haunt former side Chelsea
Liverpool U18s progressed past Chelsea U18s in the knockout phase of the Premier League Cup today with a dramatic comeback to win the game by three goals to two. Rio Ngumoha came back to haunt his old side in the process.
The young Reds were 2-0 down with goals from Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and Genesis Antwi before Trey Nyoni pulled one back with only five minutes or so left to play. Nhumoha then found the back of the net to square things up with a brilliant dribble and finish before fellow summer signing Alvin Ayman then notched the winner to complete the comeback.
Ngumoha was involved in the winning goal too, playing in Joshua Sonnie-Lambie. He then squared for Ayman to score. Liverpool got three goals in eight minutes to seal its place in the next round.

Ngumoha and Nyoni missed out on playing minutes in the Champions League midweek with James McConnell taking center stage. But the pair remain huge talents in the Liverpool academy system.
Chelsea was furious when it lost Ngumoha, with the young winger understood to believe his pathway to first-team minutes was clearer at Anfield. That theory was proven when he started in the FA Cup against Accrington Stanley last month.
Ngumoha has been training with the senior team, alongside Nyoni and many other talents. Kieran Morrison and Trent Kone-Doherty made the bench for the match with PSV while Amara Nallo was sent off just a few minutes into his substitute appearance.
Liverpool U18s play Manchester United next weekend. The Reds' U21s travel to Southampton on Friday. Jayden Danns was not involved in the matchday squad against Bournemouth in the Premier League having started last Wednesday in Europe.
