Transfer news LIVE! Tottenham sign Bergvall; West Ham deals confirmed; Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd latest
Transfer news LIVE!
The January transfer window has now shut! Transfer Deadline Day delivered all the usual drama but without the significant spending often seen by Premier League clubs. Chelsea striker Armando Broja signed for Fulham on loan as the Blues set up their summer plan to sign Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney or Evan Ferguson, while Arsenal were busy late on confirming four deals.
It was a big evening for Tottenham, who won the race to sign Lucas Bergvall after rival interest from Barcelona in the Swedish teenager. Alejo Veliz has joined Sevilla on loan but Bryan Gil is staying put at Spurs after rejecting a loan to Brighton. Over at West Ham, Pablo Fornals has now finally completed a late move to Real Betis and Said Benrahma's switch to Lyon has also been confirmed after FIFA intervention.
A quiet window means the stage is set for a huge summer market, when Liverpool will chase Kylian Mbappe and Michael Olise will top Manchester United's wish list. There are, of course, a few moves still set to be announced after the deadline with the deal sheets in - so stay tuned to all the latest deadline day news, rumours and gossip in Standard Sport's live transfer centre!

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall after beating Barcelona to his signature.
The 17-year-old midfielder joins the club for around £8.5m on a five-year contract and will officially link up with Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squad this summer.
It is thought the initial fee could be increased by way of various add-ons.
Bergvall visited the club’s training ground on Monday and met with compatriot Dejan Kulusevski but then travelled to Barcelona as both clubs pushed hard to sign the highly-rated teenager.
Said Benrahma finally completes Lyon move
Friday 2 February 2024 18:44 , George Flood
Said Benrahma has completed his loan switch to Lyon following the deadline day saga that almost saw him miss out on a West Ham exit, writes Malik Ouzia.
The deal, which will be made permanent in the summer for around £15m, looked dead in the water on Thursday night when both clubs released statements confirming that it had not been processed before the deadline.
Benrahma had already travelled to France to undergo a medical and remained in Lyon on Friday as the clubs worked with FIFA in a bid to push the deal through.
Lyon initially blamed West Ham for Thursday night’s delay, publicly accusing the Premier League side of “incomprehensible behaviour” and a “lack of respect”.
West Ham are understood to be hugely disappointed by those claims, which the club feels are proven to be unfounded by the fact that the deal has now been approved.

West Ham have now confirmed the sale of Pablo Fornals to Real Betis after transfer deadline day.
The Spanish midfielder will reunite with ex-Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini in LaLiga, with a medical sorted in London on Thursday night.
The £6.8m deal initially looked to have been scuppered late on Thursday along with Said Benrahma's proposed £15m switch to Lyon, but Fornals has now officially joined Betis and West Ham team-mate Benrahma is also on track to move to France after late intervention from world governing body FIFA.
Mauricio Pochettino: Why Chelsea didn't sign replacement for Armando Broja
Friday 2 February 2024 15:04 , Alex Young
Mauricio Pochettino has explained why Chelsea allowed striker Armando Broja to join Fulham on loan without signing a replacement.
Chelsea waved through the 22-year-old's loan move to Fulham on deadline day, leaving Nicolas Jackson as the only senior striker in the squad.
Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer can both line up as No9s, while teenager Deivid Washington is an alternative, but inexperienced, option.
Asked why Chelsea let Broja leave, Pochettino said: "It is a very good opportunity for him to play maybe more. It's a good move for him and he can take the opportunity to play more.
He added: "It is important to recover Christoph [Nkunku] and it is important for Nico Jackson to arrive. Also, sometimes we forget, but Deivid Washington is here with us. The options we have up front are enough."

Friday 2 February 2024 14:33 , Alex Young

Bergvall is set to mark his 18th birthday on Friday by signing a five-year deal with Spurs and before linking up with Postecoglou's first team from the start of pre-season in July.
Spurs also landed Radu Dragusin, 21, over Bayern Munich in January, and in the past 18 months have signed Alejo Veliz (20), Pape Sarr and Destiny Udogie (both 21) and Micky van de Ven, 22.
Asked how Spurs were persuaded Europe's best youngsters to join the club, Postecoglou said: "I don't think it's so much what we're saying, it's more what people are seeing. That's the important thing.
More on Said Benrahma's Lyon lifeline
Friday 2 February 2024 14:05 , Alex Young
Said Benrahma’s hopes of quitting West Ham to join Lyon have been dealt a lifeline after the French club’s CEO claimed FIFA have given the transfer the green light.
Benrahma travelled to France on Thursday to complete a medical ahead of his expected move to the Ligue 1 side, but disaster struck late on deadline day when it appeared that the clubs had failed to complete the deal in time.
However, speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon, Lyon director general Laurent Prudhom said the club’s appeal to Fifa to have the transfer belatedly ratified had been successful.
He told reporters on Friday: “We have a message telling us that FIFA has accepted the validation of the TMS match for the transfer of Benrahma.

David Moyes has no concerns over Said Benrahma committment
Friday 2 February 2024 12:30 , Alex Young
David Moyes insists he is confident Said Benrahma will remain fully committed to West Ham for the remainder of the season, despite missing out on a deadline day move to Lyon, writes Malik Ouzia.
Benrahma’s proposed loan switch fell through in the final hours of the window after the two clubs failed get the deal signed off in time.
Benrahma had flown to France to undergo a medical in the expectation of joining the Ligue 1 side in a transfer that would have included an obligation-to-buy in the summer worth more than £15million.
In a public statement, Lyon blamed West Ham for the paperwork issue and accused the club of a lack of respect, while Fifa are investigating the situation, as well as Pablo Fornals’s move to Real Betis, which is also yet to be ratified.
Barring another twist, Benrahma is expected to return to east London for the remainder of the season at least, though he is still in the middle of a three-match suspension that will rule him out of Sunday’s Premier League trip to face Manchester United.
Tottenham emerging as transfer powerhouse
Friday 2 February 2024 11:44 , Alex Young
When Swedish teenager Lucas Bergvall wraps up a sensational move to Tottenham, the club will have signed three players this winter and in each case beaten a European superpower to the deal.
Spurs pipped Manchester United to the loan signing of Timo Werner; Radu Dragusin turned down Bayern Munich for Spurs; and Bergvall opted for north London over Barcelona.
It is an impressive series of coups for a club previously more associated with embarrassing transfer failures, such as Willian, Paulo Dybala, Jack Grealish and Luis Diaz.
Spurs's new-found strength in the market is partly explained by the might of the Premier League, which dwarves their European counterparts, offering players the most competitive environment and the biggest rewards.

Friday 2 February 2024 10:23 , Alex Young

Bergvall has emerged as one of the most precocious talents in Europe and Barcelona had appeared in pole position to sign him.
But Spurs, led by technical director Johan Lange who has been tracking Bergvall for months, pushed hard to sign the teenager and learned late last night he had turned down the Catalan giants in favour of being part of Ange Postecoglou's first-team next season.
Bergvall and his family visited Spurs' Hertfordshire training base on Monday, where he met with key figures including Postecoglou and chairman Daniel Levy, before travelling to Barcelona for a pitch from the La Liga giants the following day.

Why Armando Broja wanted Fulham move
Friday 2 February 2024 09:27 , Alex Young
Armando Broja hopes his move to Fulham can revitalise his career.
The Chelsea striker sealed a loan move to Craven Cottage in the early hours of this morning.
Fulham will pay a loan fee of up to £4million for Broja, but should the 22-year-old play more than 50 per cent of their games then that the fee will be reduced to a nominal amount.
Broja has scored twice in 19 games for Chelsea this season after returning from a serious knee injury and the 22-year-old wants to prove himself again a top-level striker.
“I know I have come back off a big injury and I want to stake my claim again and show everyone what I am really about,” he said.
“And show everyone that the injury had not affected me too much. I'm really happy to be here and I can't wait to get started.”

Premier League spending falls by £715m
Friday 2 February 2024 07:34 , Alex Young
Premier League clubs spent just £100million in one of the quietest transfer windows in recent memory, a remarkable drop from the £815m spend last year.
An average of just over £319m has been spent every January since the 2016-17 season, when the value of domestic television rights first jumped past £5billion in a three-year cycle.
A relative plateauing of broadcast revenues and the threat of sanctions under the league's profit and sustainability rules - with Everton already docked 10 points this season - have been cited as potential reasons for the lack of activity this month.
Spending stood at around £70m going into deadline day, ith Morgan Rogers' move from Middlesbrough to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace signing Adam Wharton pushed that figure to £100m.
Tottenham's £26.7m deal for Radu Dragusin on January 11 remained the biggest of the month, while the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United did not make a single addition.
Debut dates for new Crystal Palace signings
Friday 2 February 2024 07:18 , Alex Young
Adam Wharton is unlikely to go straight into the Crystal Palace squad but fellow new signing Daniel Munoz is available to make his debut against Brighton on Saturday.
Right-back Munoz joined in a £8.5m deal from Genk this week and is in line to go straight into the Eagles squad at the Amex.
The 27-year-old has 23 caps for Colombia and is viewed the long-time solution at right-back, where both Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne are out of contract in the summer.
Chris Richards played out of position at right-back in Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Sheffield United.
Adam Wharton explains Crystal Palace move
Friday 2 February 2024 07:03 , Alex Young
New Crystal Palace signing Adam Wharton says the club’s record of developing players from the Championship was a key factor behind his decision to move to Selhurst Park, writes Dom Smith.
Wharton sealed a £22.5million switch from Blackburn yesterday when the 19-year-old midfielder signed a five-and-a-half-year contract.
Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise all built on successful seasons in the Championship to become top-level players at Palace, and Wharton said: “That is something that stands out with Crystal Palace - the way they have brought players from the Championship and developed them into world-class players in the Premier League.
“That was a big reason why I wanted to come here. The goals [Eze and Olise] scored [against Sheffield United on Tuesday] were unbelievable. It just shows how much they have progressed since they came from the Championship.
“That is something I want to do at this football club, and hopefully I can.”

Friday 2 February 2024 06:50 , Alex Young
One deal that did get done beyond the transfer deadline was Armando Broja' loan move to Fulham from Chelsea.
A nervous wait on Thursday night ended with the official announcement coming after midnight, over an hour after the window closed with the deal sheet put in to allow extra time to finalise the move.
The Cottagers have agreed a deal worth up to £4million with their west London neighbours having beaten competition from Wolves to sign Broja until the end of the season.
"It feels amazing," he told the club website. "I'm really happy to be here and I can't wait to get started, meet the players and manager and play for the fans.

Full Lyon statement on Said Benrahma situation
Friday 2 February 2024 00:14 , Marc Mayo
On February 2, Olympique Lyonnais strongly regret the failure of the transfer of Saïd Benrahma, for reasons beyond our control, and question the behaviour of West Ham, who failed to finalise the required administrative procedures despite all the agreements concluded.
Olympique Lyonnais were delighted to welcome Saïd Benrahma to Lyon this Thursday to finalise his transfer from West Ham. The two clubs had signed a temporary transfer agreement, and Olympique Lyonnais had obtained the approval of the DNCG to allow the transfer to take place in a fluid and transparent manner.
However, in the early evening, when Olympique Lyonnais had entered all the administrative data on FIFA's dedicated platform (FIFA TMS), West Ham had never launched any technical procedure on their part, despite OL's repeated reminders and continuous mutual telephone communication.
In the absence of this reciprocal action on the part of the English club and following this incomprehensible behavior, raising questions, the international transfer certificate could not be requested before closing time.
Olympique Lyonnais deeply regret this situation and this decision, demonstrating a deep lack of respect on the part of West Ham for the Institution and the player.
The club reserves the right to initiate all appropriate procedures necessary to validate the operation later, and to hold West Ham accountable if necessary.

Frustrated Moyes reveals Fornals plan before transfer deadline day disruption
Thursday 1 February 2024 23:08 , Marc Mayo
West Ham boss David Moyes has aired his frustration at being forced to play on transfer deadline day, revealing he had planned to use Pablo Fornals in his side’s 1-1 draw against Bournemouth before a late bid from Real Betis.
Thursday night’s match took place during the final hours of what turned into a busy last day of the window for the Irons, with both Said Benrahma and Fornals in the process of sealing their exits from the club as the deadline approached.
Benrahma travelled to France to undergo a medical at Lyon ahead of his initial loan move earlier on Thursday, but Fornals watched the meeting with the Cherries at the London Stadium, having only been left out of the squad at the last minute after Betis had a £6.8million offer accepted hours before kick-off.
"We were planning to have Pablo involved tonight,” Moyes confirmed. “It’s a strange day to have a game and the deadline, especially when it looks like we’ve possibly done some late business.

Eintracht Frankfurt signed 21-year-old French striker Hugo Ekitike on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season with an option to buy. It comes five months after Frankfurt sold striker Randal Kolo Muani to PSG in a move that played a part in limiting Ekitike's game time there.
Stuttgart brought in Mahmoud Dahoud on loan from Brighton as the third-place Bundesliga team aims to keep up its chase for Champions League qualification, something that seemed all but impossible at the start of the season.
Werder Bremen signed 19-year-old midfielder Isak Hansen-Aaron from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

Brentford confirm Toney going nowhere
Thursday 1 February 2024 20:50 , Marc Mayo
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank says that Ivan Toney will not be leaving the Bees on transfer deadline day.
England striker Toney has been linked with Premier League rivals such as Arsenal and Chelsea in the January window.
The 27-year-old has scored 34 goals in 68 top-flight games for Brentford and Frank insists Toney will stay put after a month of speculation.
"This will be breaking news, OK - but Ivan will stay," Frank said at his press conference previewing Monday's clash with Manchester City.

Thursday 1 February 2024 20:26 , Marc Mayo
It's been a fairly quiet end to the Serie A window.
Roma have landed Empoli youngster Tommaso Baldanzi for a fee in the region of £9m as Daniele De Rossi makes changes after taking over from Jose Mourinho.
The Giallorossi have also sent striker Andrea Bellotti on loan to Fiorentina.
Nothing doing for Inter, AC Milan and Juventus, who landed Carlos Alcaraz from Southampton yesterday.
Bottom club Salernitana have been most active, signing three including Milan defender Marco Pellegrino.

Forest miss out on Palace keeper Johnstone
Thursday 1 February 2024 20:15 , Marc Mayo
Sam Johnstone is set to remain with Crystal Palace until at least the summer, and that’s the outcome the Eagles always preferred, writes Dom Smith.
Nottingham Forest were exploring a deadline day move to upgrade goalkeeper Matt Turner and wanted Johnstone, but Palace were unwilling to loan him.
Forest felt Palace’s valuation of Johnstone was too high, eventually signing Belgian international Matz Sels from Strasbourg which ended their interest in Johnstone.
While Johnstone himself may now struggle for game time given Dean Henderson has moved ahead of him in the pecking order at Palace, the club wanted to keep both until the summer.
Palace are aware that having two England international goalkeepers on their books is not sustainable as both have legitimate claims to be No1.
But they wanted to give themselves time to address that situation in the summer. Johnstone staying affords them that time to bide their time rather than rush any potential exit.
Done deal!
Thursday 1 February 2024 20:04 , Matt Verri
Manchester City defender Josh Wilson-Esbrand will spend the rest of the campaign at Cardiff.
The 21-year-old had been on loan at Reims this season, but has cut short that spell to return to England join the Championship side.
Josh Wilson-Esbrand has joined Cardiff on loan until the end of the season.

Latest on Gil and Veliz
Thursday 1 February 2024 19:51 , Matt Verri
Bryan Gil will not be leaving Tottenham on loan, writes Dan Kilpatrick.
There was loan interest from Brighton and Dutch club Feyenoord, but the 22-year-old wants to stay at Spurs and will not leave before the window closes.
Alejo Veliz has now completed his medical at Sevilla, ahead of joining the LaLiga club on loan until the end of the season.
West Ham business done?
Thursday 1 February 2024 19:40 , Matt Verri
West Ham's technical director Tim Steiden has been out on the pitch chatting away to David Moyes in the build-up to kick-off at the London Stadium, writes Malik Ouzia.
Not exactly the actions of a man frantically trying to find a winger on loan so I think we can be pretty certain that the entrance door is shut for the night.
Ryan Kent going nowhere
Thursday 1 February 2024 19:32 , Matt Verri
Ryan Kent will not be joining Lazio tonight.
The Fenerbahce winger, previously at Rangers, was believed to be on the verge of moving to the Italian side, having fallen out of favour in Turkey.
However, Fabrizio Romano reports that move has now collapsed, with Kent expected to stay at Fenerbahce.
Malik Ouzia at the London Stadium
Thursday 1 February 2024 19:11 , Matt Verri
There's a bit of a hectic feel around the London Stadium this evening, with twin priorities for West Ham in terms of transfers and, you know, trying to win a football match.
Said Benrahma has completed his medical at Lyon and it's now just a matter of getting that deal all completed in time for the French deadline.
Pablo Fornals is expected to join Betis despite turning up at the London Stadium earlier this evening. No plans to bring in a replacement, though.
Forest submit Akpom bid
Thursday 1 February 2024 18:58 , Matt Verri
Former Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom could be set for a return to the Premier League.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign the Ajax forward, and have now submitted an official bit.
Forest want to bring Akpom to the City Ground on an initial loan deal, with an obligation to sign the 28-year-old permanently for €16m in the summer if they avoid relegation.
Wharton eyes Palace development
Thursday 1 February 2024 18:44 , Matt Verri
Adam Wharton has been discussing his decision to join Crystal Palace.
“I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League and to play for such a big club like Crystal Palace is a great honour," he told the club's official website.
“The way they’ve brought players from the Championship and developed them into world-class players in the Premier League is something that stood out to me, and it’s a big reason why I wanted to come here.”
Done deal!
Thursday 1 February 2024 18:30 , Matt Verri
Crystal Palace have announced the signing of Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers, writes Dom Smith.
The 19-year-old midfielder joins Palace on a £22.5million deal.
While an agreement had been made days ago, the deal came close to collapsing last night, before issues were resolved this morning.
Blackburn manager Jon Dahl Tomasson said last week he wanted Wharton loaned back for the rest of the season, but Palace need midfield reinforcements due to Cheick Doucoure’s season-ending injury and insisted on Wharton joining now.
Wharton travelled to London on Tuesday for the first part of his medical, which was then completed yesterday.
Palace’s first bid of £18.5m was rejected last week. A fee of £22.5m including add-ons was soon reached, after they stepped up their interest when Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips rejected the Eagles to instead join West Ham on loan.

Broja on the move as Chelsea formulate Osimhen plan
Thursday 1 February 2024 18:20 , Matt Verri
Fulham are set to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja on loan until the end of the season, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The Cottagers will beat Wolves in the race to sign the 22-year-old, who will undergo a medical in west London tonight.
Chelsea are believed to have accepted offers from both clubs and allowed the Albania international to pick his favoured move.
The Albania international will likely be sold in the summer to help balance the books, so Chelsea can re-enter the market to sign a top-level striker, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen among the top targets.

Fornals at the London Stadium!
Thursday 1 February 2024 18:08 , Matt Verri
Despite West Ham having agreed a fee with Real Betis for Pablo Fornals, the Spaniard has arrived at the London Stadium with the rest of David Moyes’s squad this evening, writes Malik Ouzia.
The Hammers have accepted a £6.8m offer for Fornals, but he is still in attendance ahead of tonight's Premier League clash with Bournemouth!
Vuskovic secures loan move
Thursday 1 February 2024 18:00 , Matt Verri
Tottenham announced in September that teenager Luka Vuskovic would be joining the club in 2025.
For now though, the 16-year-old has joined Polish club Radomiak Radom on loan from Hajduk Split.
Spurs will hope he is able to secure more first-team football in Poland, as he prepares to move to England when he turns 18.
More on Broja deal...
Thursday 1 February 2024 17:49 , Matt Verri
Armando Broja is expected to undergo a medical at Fulham this evening, completing his move to Craven Cottage before the 11pm deadline.
Chelsea will earn a maximum of £4million from the loan deal, but that figure will drop down to a nominal amount if Broja plays more than 50% of matches between now and the end of the season.
Forest fail in Kelleher approach
Thursday 1 February 2024 17:41 , Matt Verri
Nottingham Forest have had a bid rejected for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
The Mail report than Forest submitted a £15million offer, one that was swiftly rejected by Liverpool.
The Reds have no interest in selling Kelleher, with the club still competing on four fronts, and value him at more than £20m.
Fulham in pole position for Broja
Thursday 1 February 2024 17:29 , Matt Verri
Fulham are now favourites to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja, but talks are ongoing, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Wolves are concerned they will miss out on the 22-year-old, with a suspected compromise incoming on the £5million loan fee the two interested clubs were quoted this morning.
Atletico Madrid are also tracking Broja but won't join the race on deadline day.
Ebiowei secures loan move away from Palace
Thursday 1 February 2024 17:26 , Matt Verri
Crystal Palace midfielder Malcolm Ebiowei has joined Belgian side RWD Molenbeek on loan until the end of the season, writes Dom Smith.
RWD are owned by Palace part-owner John Textor, and they have already taken Palace’s Tayo Adaramola on loan until the summer.
Ebiowei has now joined Adaramola, making his second loan spell since since his 2022 move from Derby — having been loaned to Hull City for six months last January.
The 20-year-old came through the Derby academy having previously on the books of Chelsea, Arsenal and Rangers.
Ebiowei has made five first-team appearances for Palace.
Gilchrist not leaving Chelsea
Thursday 1 February 2024 17:15 , Matt Verri
Chelsea have ruled out letting young defender Alfie Gilchrist leave on loan this January, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The 20-year-old will feature in Mauricio Pochettino's first-team until the summer.
There has been loan interest in a variety of academy talent at Cobham, including Gilchrist, but the likes of Deivid Washington, Zak Sturge and Dylan Williams will also stay.
The loan market has been surprisingly quiet for Chelsea for most players, apart from midfielder Andrey Santos, who will soon to join Strasbourg.
Balcombe could leave Brentford
Thursday 1 February 2024 17:06 , Matt Verri
Brentford goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe will be available for emergency loans after the January window closes, writes Dom Smith.
Balcombe, 24, was due to leave on loan this month after Brentford signed Hakon Valdimarsson, but he then suffered an ill-timed groin injury that needed surgery.
He is still out but could leave on an emergency loan once he has returned to full fitness.
Balcombe is currently the Bees’ fourth-choice keeper, with Thomas Strakosha and No1 Mark Flekken also with the first-team.
West Ham agree Fornals deal
Thursday 1 February 2024 16:55 , Matt Verri
West Ham have accepted a £6.8million offer from Real Betis for Pablo Fornals.
Betis, who are managed by former Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini, have been targeting the midfielder throughout the January transfer window and had an initial bid knocked back earlier this week.
With hours to go until this evening’s deadline, however, the clubs have agreed a deal that will see the Spaniard’s wish of returning to his homeland granted.
The LaLiga outfit now have until the Spanish transfer deadline at 10pm GMT this evening to complete the deal.
Stalemate in Brentford's push for Nusa
Thursday 1 February 2024 16:39 , Matt Verri
Antonio Nusa's situation between Brentford and Club Brugge remains deadlocked, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Both teams are steadfast in their position: Brentford want a discount, Brugge will not grant it. It's an unusual situation, brought about by a medical in which Brentford discovered multiple issues which make the deal risky.
It might not be resolved until after the transfer window as the Bees are in no rush, given they were going to loan him back to Belgium anyway.
Talks are likely to continue through the winter and spring months ahead of the summer, but there's a possibility another club may be able to hijack the move.
Gil unlikely to leave Tottenham
Thursday 1 February 2024 16:32 , Matt Verri
It's quiet at Spurs for now, with Bryan Gil's future still unresolved but the club expecting him to stay put as it stands, writes Dan Kilpatrick.
Gil had loan interest from Brighton and Dutch club Feyenoord but is happy at Spurs. There's still time before the deadline but barring a late change of heart, he will continue to fight for a place in Ange Postecoglou's squad.
Alejo Veliz is in Sevilla and his loan move should be announced this evening.
No word yet from Lucas Bergvall's camp on whether he will be joining Spurs or Barcelona but, as reported earlier, he does not have to make a decision today because any move to north London would not happen until the summer.
Chalobah to remain at Stamford Bridge
Thursday 1 February 2024 16:19 , Matt Verri
Trevoh Chalobah is expected to stay at Chelsea for the rest of the season.
Football.london claim that a number of clubs have been interested in signing the defender, but are unwilling to spend significant money on a player who has not made a competitive appearance this season.
Chalobah has therefore accepted he will remain at Chelsea until the summer, when he will likely look for a move.
Palace still keen on Cornet
Thursday 1 February 2024 16:01 , Matt Verri
Crystal Palace have still not given up their hopes of signing Maxwel Cornet on loan either, writes Malik Ouzia.
It goes without saying that allowing three wingers to depart without bringing in a replacement would be a step too far for West Ham.
It is also clear that David Moyes’s hopes for a nice serene deadline day in the build-up to tonight’s Premier League game against Bournemouth have not materialised.
Lots of moving parts at the moment and given Lucas Paqueta is still injured and Callum Marshall has already left on loan, you’d have to assume that at least one, if not both, of Cornet and Fornals were due to be on the bench tonight.
Munoz set for Palace debut
Thursday 1 February 2024 15:48 , Matt Verri
New signing Daniel Munoz is in line to make his Crystal Palace debut at Brighton on Saturday, writes Dom Smith.
The 27-year-old right-back is available to feature against Palace’s rivals after he passed his medical on Monday.
Munoz joined the Eagles this week in an £8.5million move from Genk, where he had won the 2021 Belgian Cup during a three-and-a-half-year stay.
Munoz is viewed as the long-time solution at the right-back position, where veterans Joel Ward, 34, and Nathaniel Clyne, 32, are out of contract this summer.
Ward is close to returning from a hamstring injury, with Clyne having played while he has been out. But Munoz is expected to move ahead of both in the pecking order, and is likely to make his debut in some capacity against Brighton.
Colombia’s first-choice right-back at international level, Munoz is an attacked-minded player and registered 19 goals and 20 assists in 148 games for Genk.
Frank: Toney will stay
Thursday 1 February 2024 15:39 , Matt Verri
Thomas Frank has confirmed Ivan Toney is going nowhere.
Arsenal and Chelsea were linked with £100m moves for the Brentford striker earlier in the window, but that has appeared increasingly unrealistic in recent weeks.
“This will be breaking news, OK – but Ivan will stay,” Frank said at his press conference.
He added: “Happy? Yes, but I was pretty sure as I said from the beginning that Ivan will stay with us so I was not worried about that.
“In general, it is nice to know what you are working with so in that situation, yes [I am happy].”
West Ham open to Fornals exit
Thursday 1 February 2024 15:13 , Matt Verri
West Ham are still not expecting any incomings at this stage, but they have not ruled out Pablo Fornals being allowed to leave the club today, as well as Said Benrahma, writes Malik Ouzia.
Negotiations with Real Betis are still ongoing and if an offer West Ham consider to be acceptable comes in they may well let the Spaniard go.
Fornals was denied a return to his homeland in the summer when Villarreal were interested but has been a bit-part player this season. His contract was extended late last year but that was to protect his value with a view to a sale.
He is a popular figure around the club and has served West Ham well so perhaps there is a goodwill element to potentially sanctioning his departure - but allowing both him and Benrahma to go without signing a replacement would be a big risk.
Done deal!
Thursday 1 February 2024 15:03 , Matt Verri
The one we were all waiting for.
As we reported earlier, Arsenal have now confirmed that Alex Runarsson has returned from a loan spell at Cardiff and his contract has been terminated by mutual agreement.
The goalkeeper is expected to join Copenhagen on a free transfer.
Wishing you all the best, Alex 💪

Interest in David on hold
Thursday 1 February 2024 14:55 , Matt Verri
Jonathan David is set to stay at Lille beyond the end of the window, but a move in the summer is on the cards.
The striker has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea in recent weeks, but their interest has not materialised into a serious approach.
The Guardian report that Premier League sides are expected to pursue David, who has 18 months left on his contract, in the summer.
Francois set for Denmark move
Thursday 1 February 2024 14:44 , Matt Verri
Fulham midfielder Tyrese Francois is set to join newly promoted Danish top-division side Vejle Boldklub on loan for the rest of the season, writes Dom Smith.
The Australia under-23 international was on loan at Croatian side HNK Gorica last season, before injury interrupted that loan.
Francois, 23, joined Fulham’s youth system in 2013, and his two appearances for the first team this season both came in cup competitions.
Fulham have Benrahma approach rejected
Thursday 1 February 2024 14:30 , Matt Verri
Fulham failed in a late bid to sign Said Benrahma.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Fulham had hoped to take the West Ham winger on loan until the end of the season.
That was rejected though, with Benrahma in France to complete his move to Lyon on an initial loan deal.
Silva addresses Broja rumours
Thursday 1 February 2024 14:12 , Matt Verri
Marco Silva has been speaking ahead of Fulham's trip to Burnley this weekend, and he has unsurprisingly been asked about the club's interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja.
He said: "I'm not going to make any comments on players or rumours. It's not necessary. I'm here to talk about our players and the most important thing is the game against Burnley.
"I understand the questions."
Fulham are in the market for a striker, with Raul Jimenez facing a spell out injured, but are unwilling to meet Chelsea's £5m loan fee demand.
On Fulham's striker search, Silva added: "Not just because Raul got injured, from last summer, we sold a striker for a big amount of money and were not able to replace him.
"That is the reality. It was important last time and was important from the start of this window."
Gallagher staying at Chelsea
Thursday 1 February 2024 13:56 , Matt Verri
Conor Gallagher will remain a Chelsea player beyond the end of the window, as expected.
Tottenham have been linked with the midfielder throughout January, with Chelsea believed to be open to selling Gallagher for the right price.
However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Spurs did not open talks with Chelsea at any point, despite Ange Postecoglou being a big fan of the 23-year-old.
Sevilla wait for Veliz medical
Thursday 1 February 2024 13:45 , Matt Verri
Alejo Veliz is in Spain as he looks to complete a loan move to Sevilla.
The Tottenham forward is expected to join the La Liga side on a straight loan, with no option to make the move a permanent one.
However, reports in Spain suggest Sevilla hold some concerns over Veliz's injury issues, with the striker set for a thorough medical before a final decision is made.
Runarsson contract could be terminanted
Thursday 1 February 2024 13:36 , Matt Verri
More on Alex Runarsson, the transfer saga we were all hoping for on deadline day...
Runarsson has six months on contract at Arsenal, writes Simon Collings.
Currently sounds like his contract will be mutually terminated so he can leave for free. Copenhagen wanting to sign a goalkeeper today.
Enrique in the dark over Mbappe
Thursday 1 February 2024 13:24 , Matt Verri
It's all been fairly quiet on the Kylian Mbappe front.
The Frenchman is out of contract at PSG in the summer, meaning he is able to talk with clubs across Europe.
Mbappe has been linked with a shock move to Liverpool, but a free transfer to Real Madrid at the end of the season remains the most likely option.
PSG haven't given up hope of persuading him to sign a new deal, but boss Luis Enrique has admitted he is still waiting for answers.
“Kylian didn’t tell me anything so far," Enrique said.
Copenhagen keen on Runarsson
Thursday 1 February 2024 13:11 , Matt Verri
Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Runarsson could be on the move again, writes Simon Collings.
The 28-year-old has been recalled from his loan at Cardiff, and is now attracting interest from Copenhagen. One to watch.
City to benefit from Rogers deal
Thursday 1 February 2024 13:00 , Matt Verri
As we covered earlier, Morgan Rogers has signed for Aston Villa from Middlesbrough.
BBC Sport that the fee is an initial £8m, but could rise to £15m depending on add-ons.
And former club Manchester City will have been keeping a close eye on the deal. They will receive 25% of any Middlesbrough profit, meaning they are set to earn £3.375m from the deal.
Benrahma set to seal Lyon move
Thursday 1 February 2024 12:45 , Matt Verri
Still a bit to resolve with Said Benrahma’s move to Lyon but there is now confidence on all sides that the deal will get done, having seemed uncertain early this morning, writes Malik Ouzia.
His time in east London really has fizzled out badly but the French side will need him to hit the ground running as they look to get themselves out of a relegation scrap.
Ligue 1 sides have until 9pm GMT this evening to complete their business.
West Ham to make loan decisions
Thursday 1 February 2024 12:35 , Matt Verri
May be the case that one or two more young players depart West Ham on loan before the transfer window shuts this evening, writes Malik Ouzia.
Callum Marshall and Gideon Kodua have both gone out already this month and both Patrick Kelly and Dan Chesters have attracted interest from EFL clubs.
Divin Mubama, however, appears to be staying put despite now entering the final five months of his contract.
Simon Collings on Arsenal's youngsters
Thursday 1 February 2024 12:24 , Matt Verri
Not giving youngsters a chance has been a criticism lobbied at Mikel Arteta this season, especially during Arsenal's dead rubber v PSV in December.
The fact Lino Sousa, Bradley Ibrahim and others are looking elsewhere suggests academy players are realising the grass may be greener elsewhere.
Waiting game for Tottenham
Thursday 1 February 2024 12:15 , Matt Verri
Very little left to do at Tottenham today, with the club now waiting on decisions from Bryan Gil and Lucas Bergvall, as Alejo Veliz completes his medical at Sevilla, writes Dan Kilpatrick.
But the club are working on loans for a couple of young players, including 20-year-old forward Jude Soonsup-Bell, who is being touted for a potential move before the deadline.
One to keep an eye on.
Moore on the move
Thursday 1 February 2024 12:08 , Matt Verri
Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore is set to join Ipswich on loan until the end of the season, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The surprise Championship promotion chasers will pay 75% of the Wales international's wages.
Jonathan David 'appreciates' Chelsea and Arsenal interest
Thursday 1 February 2024 12:03 , Alex Young
Lille's Jonathan David appears flattered by the latest speculation surrounding his future.
Arsenal have long been linked with the Canadian international forward along with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, but it is Chelsea who are now rumoured to have opened talks over a potential late January move for David.
Speaking this week, the 24-year-old told Telefoot in France: "When you're young, these are the clubs you watch and think about.
"It's flattering. I appreciate that."
Arsenal winger Marquinhos set for Brazil return
Thursday 1 February 2024 11:54 , Alex Young
Arsenal winger Marquinhos is expected to return to Brazil on loan, writes Simon Collings.
Corinthians and Fluminense are both interested in the 20-year-old, with the latter currently the frontrunners.
The Brazilian transfer window does not close until March, which means there is no rush to wrap up a deal, but talks are nonetheless accelerating fast.
Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United return
Thursday 1 February 2024 11:44 , Alex Young
Some slightly surprising manager news for you.
The Mail report that Jose Mourinho is keen to return to Manchester United, believing he has "unfinished business at the club".
Mourinho is currently out of work, after being sacked by Roma, and is reportedly keen to secure another shot at the United job, having been in charge at Old Trafford for two and a half years before his departure in December 2018.
It's suggested that Mourinho is particularly keen to work under Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Is the feeling mutual?
Brentford abandon January deal for Antonio Nusa
Thursday 1 February 2024 11:35 , Alex Young
Brentford have put a move for Antonio Nusa on hold and will reassess in the summer, writes Dom Smith.
A club-record fee of £31.5million, including add-ons, had been agreed with Club Brugge, but the medical raised a number of concerns and the 18-year-old was sent back to Belgium.
Brentford sought more medical information from both Club Brugge and the Norwegian Football Federation.
The situation has made the Bees wary of parting with such a large amount of money, given there was already risk involved in the deal due to his age and inexperience at the top level, and will now return to the deal at the end of the season.
