Jordan Henderson was involved in fiery exchange with a Dutch journalist on Sunday in the wake of his failed transfer to Monaco.

The Ligue 1 side made a bid for the former Liverpool captain last week which looked set to be accepted by the cash-strapped Ajax. However, within hours of those rumours emerging, reports from the Netherland s claimed that Henderson would remain in Amsterdam.

Amid the speculation surrounding a possible exit, he was stripped of the captaincy for Thursday’s Europa League win over Galatasaray. Henderson now looks set to stay ahead of Tuesday’s Dutch Transfer Deadline Day and he played the full 90 minutes in Ajax’s 2-1 victory over Feyenoord on Sunday.

After the match, the 34-year-old had an on-screen disagreement with a reporter, particularly concerning Henderson’s conversations with technical director Alex Kroes. Below, we’ve typed up every word from the heated conversation.

Reporter: Can you say why you wanted to make a transfer to Monaco?
Henderson: Based on what, again?
Reporter: The coach just told us that you wanted to go to Monaco because you had a big offer.
Henderson: The coach told you that I wanted to go to Monaco because I had a big offer? That's not true. No.
Reporter: I think you need to tell the coach that it is not true. Did Ajax tell you that they wanted to sell you?

Henderson: Well, they were negotiating so I imagine they did, yeah.
Reporter: They were negotiating with Monaco?
Henderson: Yeah, for a fee. They were negotiating for a fee but it's not about the details. I'm not giving you details. I know the truth, I know what happened. I'm not here to give you details, I'm just saying from my side.
Reporter: You can say it is not true but can you give details of your conversation with Alex?
Henderson: No, I don't need to. You can though. It sounds like you can, anyway.

Reporter: I think you read it?
Henderson: Yeah, and it was untrue, 99 percent of it.
Reporter: What was untrue? Which part?
Henderson: Ninety-nine percent of it. Which part, the bit before the game or the bit after the game?
Reporter: How did he [Kroes] convince you to say?
Henderson: It wasn't him and he didn't need to convince me. Nobody convinced me.
Reporter: Who convinced you to stay?
Henderson: Nobody convinced me to stay. Again, you're going into the detail. It's not about the detail.

Reporter: You know the details and if you give us the details…
Henderson: No, I don't need to. I don't need to sit here and defend. You don’t know the information.
Reporter: You can imagine that people thought…
Henderson: But why did they think that?
Reporter: Because of your behavior on Thursday
Henderson: In what way?
Reporter: By not being a captain, by not celebrating the second goal.
Henderson: You don’t know the information. I’ve just explained the second goal.
Reporter: Not thanking the crowd after the game.
Henderson: I clapped the crowd after the game.
