Marcus Rashford to Barcelona transfer truth as Man United deadline stance clear
Marcus Rashford remains out of the Manchester United squad with fewer than five days remaining of the winter transfer window.
United flew to Romania on Wednesday afternoon for the clash against FCSB without the former England international on board. Despite the departure of Antony on loan to Real Betis for the remainder of this season, there is still no recall for Rashford from Ruben Amorim.
The 27-year-old could follow his fellow forward to La Liga over the coming days, with Barcelona seemingly showing interest in doing a deal. The Manchester Evening News rounds up the latest reports around Rashford, with transfer deadline day now on the horizon.

Barcelona talks
United are reportedly in talks with the Catalan club over a late loan move for Rashford. The Telegraph describes these last-ditch discussions as tentative but claims the player and his chief adviser, brother Dwaine Maynard, believe Barcelona to be the only possible option. However, there are doubts about how viable reaching any deal will be with days rather than weeks to go until the transfer deadline.
The extent to which a club covers Rashford's £325,000 weekly wages over the coming months remains an issue. There is also the added complication of La Liga salary limits, which restrict what the Catalan club can pay the player.
Amorim's comments
Speaking in Bucharest before United play FCSB on Thursday night, Amorim reiterated that the situation regarding Rashford remains the same. The head coach again acknowledged United are a better team with the forward in it.
"You can look at our team and imagine the profile of the players. Now, imagine a talent like Rashford. Our team should be so much better with Rashford," Amorim said.
"But he has to change. If he changes, we are more than welcome to put in a talent like Rashford. And we need it!
"In this moment, it is really clear that we have to set some standards, that's all. We are waiting for Marcus, if he wants it really, really bad.
"It's not personal. I have nothing against Marcus. I just have to make the same rules for everybody. For me, it's so simple. It's always the same answer."
United's stance
The day before Amorim made those latest remarks, the Manchester Evening News reported that the head coach's previous comments could force United into compromising on a cut-price deal for Rashford. Sources believe Amorim suggesting he would rather play goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital than any player not committed to the cause has weakened the club's bargaining position.
United are still seeking a taker for the player, with Rashford's representatives holding informal discussions with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. The club would sign a replacement before the window closes in an ideal world, but they must move the wantaway forward on first.
Rashford's remarks
In response to reports about United wanting to sell Rashford last month, he concurred in an interview with the journalist Henry Winter. "For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps," Rashford said.
"When I leave, it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.
"If I know that a situation is already bad, I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past, and I don't want to be that person. When I leave, I'll make a statement, and it will be from me."
