Well - I'm going to come out and say that I'm liking what he is doing at the lane. Initially I didn't like what he was doing at all - then I got a sense of what he was trying to do and I think that he is starting to succeed. I believe he is implementing what might be considered a 'successful European style of play" - we're certainly no Barcelona, but I see him trying to implement a structure and style that is going in that direction. So as a long term investment I think he is definitely doing a good job and trying to take the club to where we need to be if we are to be a successful EPL and European Club.

He would still be of the greatest value - I was also lucky enough to see him play in the glory days. He simply scored goals - maybe he coasted through the game and then had a few moments of brilliance - but what magical moments they were!! Nothing but fond memories of Greavesy - and many more of the great Lilleywhite players from that era at the Lane.
Brown Peters Henry Blanchflower Norman Mackay Jones Greaves Smith White Dyson. I was 8 when I went to my first game and while I can't remember the detaisl of the game I will never forget the magic feel!
Whatever the deal is - I agree with Joe that it needs to be made now so we do not go through the unsettling we went through at the start of last season. Levy should have made it clear "deal done by "this" date or not at all". It's already going to be a challenging start to the season with the new manager - let's not add to the uncertainty with players that are still looking to get out, or players that have just left and now we are scrambling to get new players in. I love the club, respect Levy, and hope for the best for our new manager - but we sure seem to turn the few weeks preceding the new season into a cluster f*&k.
Absolutely right John - a huge amount of stress on top of what is already a stressful position. 'arry 'andled it with grace and class. There was never a doubt in my mind as to the final verdict - shame on the Crown prosecution and the old bill for putting him and his family through all of this - there oughta be a way to sue for recompensation for the personal crap he has been put through - disgraceful.
I think Livermore is OK - a few stitches in his lip.
From what I've seen on Gallas and Sandro - could be anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months depending upon the severity of the injuriws which are still being assessed.
As with last year when we were plagued with innumerable groin strains/pulls, this year we are seeing calf tears.
Yes we need a new top level striker, yes we could do with some coverage out wide, and right now we are looking like we need center back and DM coverage - although with Daws on the way back and Hudd hopefully back soon we could have that covered.
What we do need is the same as last year - a decent fitness/conditioning coach who knows how to prepare players and warm them up prior to the game! We should not be seeing these injuries at this level - at least not in such abundance.
Other than that - gotta love what the lads are doing this year - winning ugly when necessary as well as playing with tons of panache, style, and class - the beautiful game.
And on the downside - Kranjcar was rubbish yesterday. Given the opportunity to come on and play you would think he would have put some effort into the time he had on the field.

Sorry John - I have to disagree re: Pav - I think he is a lazy bugger who does not come to the ball, doesn't work hard when he doesn't have the ball, and just seems totally out of sync with the players around him. I honestly can't understand why he is still at the club - should have been diteched at the end of last season.

I couldn't even find it on the internet - only a BBC London radio feed. Sounds like the youngsters played well, Younes had a blinder, Sandro played well and Pavy should be taken out back a shot like a dog. Based on the commentary he should never be allowed to pull on a Spurs shirt again and I hope 'arry puts him down in the lowest team and leaves him there to rot. Never mind missing the penalty by a mile, he was lazy, and while we had a solid defense and midfield, he cocked it up and gave the ball away time after time. It honestly sounded as if he was doing it on purpose - perhaps he had some money on the game - or someone that did had Pavy in his pocket!
Get rid of him - give him away - he's bloody useless!

RWS - severe case of cranial-rectal inversion syndrome - pull your head out of your arse and smell the roses - they smell better than what your smelling - honest!

On the money as usual John.
Yes - disappointed that we will likely not be playing CL next year, but that being said, we've had a great year.
Go back two years and look where we were. This year, 1/4's of the CL, and taking the fight for 4th down to the wire despite giving up some awful games and having a strike force that really hasn't performed all year. It's progress not perfection - and if 'arry can keep our key players, get rid of the dead wood and bring in at least one top flight striker and a CB we will be looking good for next year. I believe that we have the depth necessary at RB (especially with the young lad at Villa coming back) and at LB with Danny.
Overall a great season for 'arry and the lads - with great potential for next year.
So let's hope he can keep VdV, Modric, Lennon, Bale, Sandro as the core along with Dawson and BAE.
As much as I love Gomes - he cost us a number of games this year with his tomfoolery in goal and I think he might have to go - I think he's a good keeper - but not good enough for a team that wants to challenge for the EPL top spot.

Thanks for the note with the long description of the day Beni - brought back lots of memories and felt like I was there with you! Fantastic.
Now it looks like I will be coming over in September - so definitely planning on seeing about getting to the Lane for a game!
I know it's a tough call John. We do have a game in hand, so we can close to within 3 points if we can win that game - which means we need 4 more points in the remaining 7 games. Being the eternal optimist - I still think we can do it - even if we do it ugly! Of course it would help if our strikers actually started to score some goals!
Chelsea have us, and go to Manure and Everton
City go to the Scousers, and have Manure and us at home
We have 5 home games and are away to City, Chelski, and the Scousers.
So - if we are going to make the top 4, we are going to have to play some good games and take some points away while giving up none at home (and hopefully taking 3 from our home games) - all of which is quite possible
If Charlie ends up playing at RB - that also means we do not have any backup at CB - other than Hudd (assuming he's fit to play). And heaven help us if we get an injury to another defensive player!
So - tomorrow I'm thinking it has to be:
Corluka Daws Bassong BAE
Lennon Sandros Modric Bale (I hope)
With Palacios as our sub for RB,LB, and Hudd as a CB or midfield sub along with Kranjcar and Jenas, with Daffy and Pavy subs up front.
Does anyone know the status of Kaboul? Seems we really need him right now as a RB-CB-LB sub!
If we can scrape a draw out of this we should run out of Madrid like our hair's on fire!
