Joey MacDonald tosses cookies, makes 52 saves in German league debut (Video)
After spending the last nine seasons splitting time between the NHL and AHL, Joey MacDonald decided to take his talents to Germany by signing a one-year deal with the Schwenninger Wild Wings of the DEL in June.
He made his debut Friday night against Adler Mannheim, which also served as Marcel Goc’s homecoming.

As In Goal Magazine’s Greg Balloch notes, things were going well for MacDonald until late in the third period as Schwenninger were trying to tie the game. Things had to be paused as the netminder got sick in his crease.
VOMIT WARNING
Mannheim would hang on to win the game 1-0, but MacDonald had one hell of a performance stopping 52 shots while doing an admirable job defending his net as it was obvious something was up with him.
According to Schwenninger’s Facebook page update on Saturday morning, MacDonald is feeling well and rumors that he suffered a concussion have not been confirmed.
Please recall last January when NHL ref Mike Leggo got sick during a Lightning-Penguins tilt, delaying the game for a bit before he left the ice for good. Usually vomiting in hockey is reserved for the NHL Combine's Wingate Test, but if you're going to spew during a game, the ice is a pretty safe place, it seems.
