Robby Fabbri does full split to stay onside (Video)

NHL

According to the NHL rulebook, an attacking player can’t enter the offensive zone before the puck does, or else it’s an offside play. However, if he’s touching the blue line as the puck crosses into the zone, then play can continue.

Obviously cognizant of those rules, Robby Fabbri of the St. Louis Blues knew he was entering the zone a little early in Game 5 against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.

So he did what was necessary to stay onside:

He did a full-on split. And luckily, Corey Crawford didn’t skate over and kick him in the groin.

Wow. Can’t say we’ve seen that before. There are goalies in the NHL that don’t have that level of flexibility (Of course, Fabbri’s only 20 years old. Marian Hossa would need about 10 minutes to get up from that.)

Smart thinking there from Fabbri, who we assume kicks all the butt in Twister. That’s a real left-foot-blue move right there.
