Channel 5 under fire for 'distasteful' show on missing Titanic submersible
Television viewers have questioned the timing of the programme
TV viewers have questioned Channel 5's plan to air Titanic Sub: Lost At Sea — a programme about the missing Titanic submersible — just hours after it is due to run out of oxygen, suggesting it is "too soon".
The sub went missing in the Atlantic on an underwater journey to the wreck of the Titanic, with five people on board.
Dan Walker is now set to front a Channel 5 show about it that will air on Thursday, 22 June.

The programme is set to air at 7pm, which is just a few hours after experts predict the vessel will have run out of oxygen.
The news has come under fire from some on social media, who questioned how quickly plans for the show were made.
"Already?" one tweeted.
Another said: "I was guessing 2024-2025 for a doc/movie but THIS THURSDAY? My God."
Someone else posted: "We don’t even know if they’re officially dead and they already got a documentary off the ground??? How??"
"They got a documentary out faster than the people," one viewer noted.
Another person asked: "Too soon?"
One suggested the programme, which reports say is being produced by ITN, was "capitalising" on the situation.
"Channel 5 going for the distasteful this evening while lives are at risk," said somebody else.
However, others said they would be tuning in.
