2022-23 EPL betting: Manchester City and Liverpool are the clear title favorites

It sure looks like it’ll be another two-team race in the English Premier League in 2022-23.

Manchester City and Liverpool have odds significantly better than anyone else to win next year’s league title. And the reigning champions are at better than even money to win the league for the fifth time in six seasons.

City is at an incredibly short -160 at BetMGM to win the league again. The Citizens won the 2021-22 campaign on the final day of the season with three goals in six minutes to turn a two-goal deficit to Aston Villa into a one-goal lead and a win while Liverpool beat Wolves. Liverpool is at +225 to win the league a year after the Reds played in every game possible in 2021-22.

Liverpool won both the Carabao and FA Cups and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid on Saturday.

City has already announced the impending arrival of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund ahead of the season, while Liverpool could potentially lose star Sadio Mane. Reports emerged after Liverpool’s loss to Madrid that Mane could be looking to leave this summer.

Chelsea and Tottenham are tied as the No. 3 favorites to win the league at +1600 — way back of City and Liverpool. Chelsea will have new owners next season as a group led by Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly is taking over the club. We’ll see this summer how the new regime will handle what could be a lot of turnover within the squad as key defenders like Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilecueta could leave the club in addition to Antonio Rudiger.

Manchester United is the No. 5 favorite at +2500 ahead of another season of change for the squad. Former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag takes over as the team’s manager while United announced Wednesday that Paul Pogba would be leaving this summer on a free transfer. United needs help in a lot of areas if it wants to make the Champions League and has to figure out if Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at the club for another season or if he’ll find another team.
