2024 Copa America: Friday's schedule and how to watch

The 2024 Copa America kicks off this weekend. Thursday's first math match featured arguably the best player in the tournament in Argentina's Lionel Messi. Today, two South American teams square off in Arlington, Texas: Chile and Peru.

This is the first major competition for both squads in a while as neither qualified for the 2022 World Cup.

Since the start of 2023, Peru is 4-4-6. Their most recent matchup was a 1-0 win over El Salvador on June 14 and came a week after a 0-0 draw with Paraguay. Historically, Peru plays well in Copa America with four semifinal appearances in the last five tournaments.

Chile's 6-2-4 since the start of 2023. Their best showing was a 3-2 loss to France in an international friendly in March. They're an aging team with the likes of Alexis Sanchez (35 years old), Mauricio Isla (36), Eduardo Vargas (34), and Claudio Bravo (41).
