Germany’s late, late show on Saturday night could prove to be a critical World Cup moment – but Belgium are peaking too soon.

That was the view of Clive Allen on ‘The 32’ this morning as they digested an incredible day ten of the tournament.

Allen, speaking as a guest on Yahoo’s latest daily World Cup show, fears for the rest now that Germany are up and running.

But he thinks Belgium are getting their nation’s hopes up after scoring eight goals already.

“It would have been fantastic for England if Germany went out, but it didn’t happen and you’ve got to wonder if we saw a big turning point last night.

“You can’t help but think Germany may just united now and go on to be finalists. I think they have started slowly, but they have great experience and great resilience.

“You saw from the reaction at the end of the game what it meant and how important that result was.

“They have got some much tournament experience and they showed it. Good sides get themselves out of bad situations. Toni Kroos’ goal was fantastic. It could be a big moment in his World Cup.”

But Allen, the ex-Tottenham and England centre-forward, says Belgium fans shouldn’t be getting over excited.

“Belgium have been impressive but I think they are going to implode,” he predicted on ‘The 32’.

“They are multi talented but they may have started too well too soon. We have seen the quality they have, but I get the feeling they will run into trouble.”
