Michael Vaughan:

Michael Vaughan was one of the most elegant right-hand batsmen and had a great career as the captain of the English side including winning the Ashes in 2005. Vaughan played 82 Tests scoring 5719 runs at an average of 41.4 and he had one of the most compact techniques in the game.

Vaughan led England in Tests from 2003 to 2008 and he managed to win 26 of the 51 Tests he captained which is the second most number of wins for an English captain in tests. He lost just 11 tests with 14 draws and he had a stunning win percentage of 50.98.

Joe Root:

Joe Root is the current captain of the English side and he still looks very young with lots of cricket left in him. The Yorkshire lad after the win against India in the third test at Headingly today has become the most successful English captain with 27 wins in 55 Tests as captain.

The right-hander has an average of above 50 in tests and he has been in the form of his life. His win percentage is 49.09 as captain and he is expected to become the greatest English cricketer and captain when he ends his career.
