Especially in the World Test championship, the standard of bowling has raised a lot and the batsmen have found it very difficult to score runs again and again.

Ajinkya Rahane was India’s highest run-scorer in the previous World Test Championship and contributed immensely to India reaching the finals of the inaugural edition. Rahane was under scrutiny for a long time for not scoring centuries and he finally managed to break the jinx in 2019 in the series against West Indies.

He almost got a century in the first innings of the first Test until he got dismissed for 81, but managed to capitalize on the opportunity in the second innings and brought up a beautiful century that involved a lot of emotions. He came to the party when India needed him the most and eventually won the Test as well in the West Indies.

Hanuma Vihari had an excellent series against the same West Indies side in the 2019 series and he batted at the number six position for India. He bailed India out of a tough situation in the second test with a century with the skipper and it was also his first test century in his career for India.

The right-hander followed it up with an unbeaten half-century in the second innings and India won the Test by 257 runs in the end. Vihari was adjudged the man of the match for his performance in both innings.

Rohit Sharma was in and out of the Test side and it was time for him to prove his critics wrong in the red-ball format. India promoted him to the top of the batting order where he relished batting and he responded in the best way in the home test series against South Africa in 2019.

He scored two centuries in the first two innings of the test and both were big hundreds as well. He scored 176 in the first innings and 127 in the second innings and bagged the man of the match award as well. India won the Test by 203 runs in the end and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Cheteshwar Pujara scored two of his lowest fifties in the Sydney Test against Australia in the three-match series and it was very important in the circumstances. The right-hander scored a 50 off 176 balls in the first innings and followed it up with a 77 in the second innings.

Rishabh Pant and Pujara’s partnership on the final day ensured India did not lose the Test and eventually went on to win a famous historic series in Australia.

Shardul Thakur who was known for his bowling skills revealed his batting skills in the ongoing fourth Test at Lords against England. The all-rounder scored a brilliant half century in the first innings off just 31 balls which is the second-fastest in Indian test history and top-scored with 57 off 36 balls.

Thakur was again under pressure in the second innings when wickets had fallen quickly and he formed another important partnership alongside Rishabh Pant. He finished with 60 off 72 balls coming in at eight in the batting order and with the help of him, India managed to set a target of 368 for the English side to win.
