Arsenal are likely to sign a forward in the summer transfer window. Who that forward may be is up for debate in the next few weeks and months though.

Benjamin Sesko looked set to sign for the north London club this month, but instead decided to pen a new deal with RB Leipzig in Germany. Others like Viktor Gyokeres, Serhou Guirassy, Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney have all been linked at one time or another.

Arsenal have, for now, turned their attentions to midfield reinforcements, while Mikel Arteta and Edu would also like to strengthen in the defence. But a forward remains high on the list of priorities.

What may have changed with regard to Arsenal's plans, is signing a forward who can play across the front line, rather than an out-and-out striker.

But who will the signing be, if they do indeed make one before the August 30 transfer deadline? football.london looks at the names no one is talking about that the Gunners should perhaps consider this summer...

Anthony Gordon

When it comes to Newcastle doing a deal with Arsenal, everyone has been focused on Isak. But what about Anthony Gordon? Particularly with the FFP issues the Magpies are struggling with.

Gordon can play across the front line, adept at playing through the middle or off the wing, as demonstrated during his time at Newcastle.

His versatility would be useful for Arteta and would be available at a much cheaper price than Isak too.

Ademola Lookman

Scored 17 goals, including a hat-trick in the Europa League final, and provided 10 assists for Atalanta this season.

He has not had the best of times in England, struggling with Everton and then Fulham and Leicester City on loan from RB Leipzig. But he appears to have found his feet in Serie A and at 26 could finally be ready to take on the Premier League.

Another who would cost considerably less than the likes of Gyokeres or Osimhen.

Leroy Sane

The former Manchester City man has plenty of Premier League experience and plenty of talent to boot. With only a year left on his current Bayern Munich contract, he could be a bargain signing.

Preferring to play out wide, Sane can drift into the middle too and at 28 years of age he still has plenty of time on his side to make an impact in the Premier League.

Valued at at least £50.6million, Sane would team up once again with Arteta, having worked together at City. And Arsenal have been linked with a move in previous transfer windows.

Federico Chiesa

Chiesa has impressed in what has been an otherwise disappointing Euro 2024 tournament for Italy. The winger is constantly looking for the ball and trying to get at his man down the right hand side, while he is more than capable of switching to the left.

Out of contract in 2025, Chiesa would potentially be available at a bargain price from Juventus. He is also just 26 years old so would be a long-term option.
