ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (earlier known as ICC World Twenty20) is the international championship of T20 cricket which was introduced by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The first edition of the T20 World Cup was held in the year 2007 and it took place in South Africa.

Notably, India managed to win the inaugural tournament by defeating Pakistan in the final by 5 runs at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Meanwhile, the latest edition of the T20 World Cup was held in the year 2016 which West Indies won by defeating England by 4 wickets.

Team West Indies has been the most successful team so far in the tournament as they managed to win two titles one in 2012 and the other one in 2016. Currently, the highest run-scorer in the tournament is Mahela Jayawardene and the highest wicket-taker is Shahid Afridi. Notably, both the players have retired.

However, few players have played all the editions of the T20 World Cup and will once again be seen in the 7th edition which is T20 World Cup 2021. The marquee tournament is scheduled to begin on 17 October and the finals of the event will take place on 14 November in the United Arab Emirates.

One of the best modern-day batters Rohit Sharma aka Hitman has been part of all the T20 World Cups which have been played so far. Rohit Sharma is known for his explosive batting, he has established himself as one of the most trustable batsmen for India in white-ball cricket, and now he is also establishing himself as the dependable Test batsman too.

From 2007 to 2016, Rohit Sharma played 28 Twenty-20 World Cup games and batted in 25 innings. In these games, Rohit Sharma has scored 673 runs at an average of 39.58 and a strike rate of 127.22 with his highest being 79*.

Also, the 34-year-old has been able to score 6 fifties in the tournament. Rohit will be hoping to increase the runs count once he enters the upcoming marquee event and the performance of team India’s batting unit will be dependent a lot on Rohit’s performance.

The Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is undoubtedly the greatest player produced by Bangladesh cricket. Shakib Al Hasan is regarded as one of the best all-rounders of the modern generation and there is no doubt he will go down in history as one of the best spin bowling all-rounders of all time. He has got that exceptionally good spin bowling technique and the 34-year-old possesses the skill to smash quick runs for the team.

Since the start of the T20 World Cup in 2007, Shakib Al Hasan has played 25 games and fortunately, he got to show his batting skills and all these games. In total, he scored 567 runs at an average of 28.35 and a strike rate of 128.86 with his highest being 84.

The Bangladesh all-rounder has also managed to smash 3 half-centuries in the event. With the ball in hand in the Twenty-20 World, Cups Shakib has managed to bag 30 wickets at an average of 19.53 and an economy of 6.64. If Bangladesh has to clear the qualifier stage and enter the Super 12s Shakib has to play a huge part in it.

There is always a luxury to have a player like Bravo in the team who can pick crucial wickets and fire with bat and change the momentum in just one over.

Bravo has achieved a lot of success in the T20 format as he has bagged over 600 wickets ( T20+T20I) in the shorter formats of the game with his amazing medium pace deliveries. Also with the bat, he has scored 7500 runs ( T20+T20I ).

Dwayne Bravo has been representing West Indies since the very first T20 World Cup. Bravo has played 29 matches in the Twenty-20 World Cup scoring 504 runs at an average of 24 and strike rate of 129.23. He has also managed to score 3 half-centuries during this period. With the ball, he has been able to scalp 25 wickets at an average of 25.80 and an economy of 8.87.

Mohammad Mahmudullah popularly known as Mahmudullah has been a vital member of team Bangladesh. The 35-year-old bowls tidy off-spin and bats in the middle order and he has mastered both skills. Mahmudullah so far managed to play all the Twenty-20 World Cups and will once again be seen in the 2021 World Cup event with a big responsibility of leading the team in the marquee event.

Bangladesh has appointed Mahmudullah as the captain for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 and they will be hoping for a good performance from the team. So far Mahmudullah has played 22 games in the Twenty-20 World Cup scoring 194 runs at an average of 13.85. Meanwhile, with the ball, he has been able to pick 8 wickets in 37 overs he delivered.

The third Bangladeshi cricketer on the list, this time the 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Mushfiqur Rahim. Mushfiqur is one of the most experienced players from team Bangladesh who will represent his nation once again in the upcoming Twenty-20 World Cup 2021. So far the wicketkeeper batter has played 392 international games for his country and scored 12595 runs at an average of 34.04.

Talking about his journey in T20 World Cups, which started in 2007 in the inaugural edition of the marquee event. He has played 25 games and batted in 20 innings scoring 258 runs at an average of 16.12 and strike rate of 104.45. So far Mushfiqur Rahim has failed to score any half-century and he will be hoping for a better outcome this time.

His average in T20 is 37.11 and his strike rate is 145.82 but this just keeps going up when he is in good touch. The highest score smashed by Gayle in the 120 ball format is unbeaten 175*. Other than this Gayle has also smashed 22 centuries in his T20 career.

So far in the 6 editions of the T20 World Cup Gayle has managed to play 28 games and score 920 runs at an average of 40 and a Strike Rate of 146.73. During this period 41-year-old have smashed 2 hundred and 7 half-centuries. Overall he is the second-highest run-getter in the T20 World Cups currently.
