The absolute bargain transfer someone is going to grab from Tottenham this summer

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could have his pick of clubs this summer as his performances at the Euros continue to raise his profile.

As the likes of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and captain Harry Kane struggled to push their team on, the 28-year-old Dane was named man of the match for his performance against England in Thursday night's 1-1 draw in Group C in Frankfurt. Hojbjerg was a constant thorn in the side of Gareth Southgate's team and was also an attacking threat throughout the European Championships encounter.

The experienced Spurs midfielder had 108 touches, made 83 passes, took five shots, made six tackles, three interceptions and two clearances and won two aerial duels. Hojbjerg had the ball more than any other player on the pitch on the night by a long way and used it well on the whole.

The Denmark international also earned praise after his country's opening encounter against Slovenia and once his Euros journey is completed this summer he will become a man in demand in the transfer market.

Ange Postecoglou only handed Hojbjerg eight Premier League starts last season, with the midfielder having started almost every game in previous seasons since his arrival at the club in 2020 under Jose Mourinho. Postecoglou still repeatedly turned to the Dane from the bench last season in order to steady the team late in matches and he made 39 appearances across all competitions for the squad.

He did not contribute any goals or assists, despite having managed to do so in previous campaigns with five goals and seven assists last season alone.

The problem for Hojbjerg is that he does not quite fit the Postecoglou system so he finds himself on the market this summer, particularly with just a year left on his contract after 184 appearances for the club.

Hojbjerg has often divided the Tottenham fans, with his technique inconsistent and ranging from the excellent to the rushed and his decision-making occasionally erratic, but he has been an underrated player within the club for much of his time in N17, often leading them through tough moments in games and showing the energy and stamina required late into games to drive on the team.

Hojbjerg's agent Luca Puccinelli spoke to social media transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano this week and explained the next steps for his client.

"This year I started working with Pierre and it was a great satisfaction for me to be able to convince a top player for the project I had for him. Pierre has already experienced a lot in his career, he has had great seasons at Tottenham with top coaches like Mourinho and then Conte last year. In the national team he is a big leader as well," he said.

"A player like him will surely be part of a club with great ambition or project because he is not just a strong player, but with a character made to fight for important things every year. Pierre feel comfortable in the pressure to win and I am working in this sense.

"He is telling me that every year he dream of trophies in the end of the season and don’t like to play for nothing. This is his mindset, this is the mission.

"I am working on the many requests that we have already received, yes; but we will analyse all the possibilities after the Euros, during the holidays when we will spend some time together and then look forward to the next chapter.

"The national team is giving him back his lost serenity now. I’m 100% sure that whoever signs Hojbjerg will get a bargain."

There's little doubt that with a year left on his contract and his fee not being sky-high, some team among those interested in the Premier League, Italy, Spain, Turkey and elsewhere will get themselves a bargain buy in the all-action Dane.
