Ada surges to district sweep of Seminole

Apr. 4—The Ada High School baseball team swept past Seminole by counts of 12-0 and 16-1 in a Tuesday District 4A-1 doubleheader at Cougar Field.

Coach Shane Coker's club won for the fifth straight time to improve to 7-11 on the year. The Cougars will now compete in the Kingston Baseball Tournament and will face Davis at 3:30 p.m. today in a first-round matchup. Other teams in the field include the host Redskins, Lone Grove, Sulphur, Broken Bow and Caddo.

Ada 12, Seminole 0

Senior Reid Samson tossed three perfect innings in the rule-rule victory. He struck out seven of the nine batters he faced.

Ada ended the game with a nine-run outburst in the bottom of the third frame.

Brock Boyles had a hot bat for the Cougars. He finished 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Will Johnson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored in the seven-hit Ada offense and Cade Stick finished 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Keith Cook cracked a double and scored a run for the hosts.

The Cougars were able to take advantage of four Seminole errors.

Cooper Atyia absorbed the pitching loss for the Chieftains. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered three earned runs in 2.1 innings.

Ada 16, Seminole 1

The Chieftains grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-out, RBI single by Jordan Lowe.

Ada then scored 16 straight runs, including an overwhelming 14-run explosion in the bottom of the second inning.

The Cougars pounded 13 hits in only two at-bats. Keith Cook led the way, going 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Elvis Edwards finished 2-for-2 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored for Ada. Brock Boyles, JD Dugan and Reid Samson also contributed two hits apiece for the home team. Boyles drove in a run and scored twice and Samson had two RBIs and a run scored.

Hunter McDonald finished 1-for-1 with two walks, an RBI and three runs scored from the top of the AHS lineup.

Dugan picked up the pitching win. He struck out three, walked one and allowed one earned run in two innings. Cade Stick tossed the final frame for Ada and had one strikeout and allowed one hit.

Donavin Garfield had the only other hit in the game for Seminole. Three SHS pitchers combined for two strikeouts, and four walks and also hit three Ada batters.
