'Adams Park is a place I can call home' - Joe Jacobson to exit Wycombe after 10 years

Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed that club captain Joe Jacobson will make his 400th and last appearance for the Chairboys this weekend.

The 37-year-old, who joined the Adams Park side in 2014 from Shrewsbury Town, is out of contract this summer and will officially depart the club when his current deal expires on June 30.

During his decade in South Buckinghamshire, he has recorded 99 goal contributions (44 goals and 55 assists), has played in three play-off finals, and scored the winning penalty to send Wycombe into the Championship for the very first time.

He also has the unique destination of scoring a hat-trick which consisted of set pieces – two of which were corners.

This was in a 3-1 home victory against Lincoln City in September 2019.

Speaking on his time at Adams Park, he said: “I’m incredibly proud to have spent 10 of the best years of my life with this club and I will always look back with great pride at the memories we have all created together during this time.

“Adams Park is a place I can call home, and I have made friendships that will stay with me forever.

“Because of that, I feel really fortunate and privileged that I’ve had the opportunity to play 400 games at a place where I’ve been happy and achieved a lot individually and as a team.

“I don’t know what comes next, so this is more of a ‘see you soon’ than a goodbye because I know I’ll keep in touch with the staff, players and many other people around the club.

“The supporters have been unbelievable with me, from David and Barbara who’ve sponsored me throughout my time here, to Jake and Stanley and Lochy who are there waiting for us with big smiles and treats after every game, whatever the weather and whatever the result.

“There are too many great people here to mention.

“Saturday will be a special and emotional day for me – a day that I’m looking forward to and kind of dreading in equal measure. Above all I want to play my part in the team having a strong end to the season and finishing my time here with a win, and having one last celebration to share with all the great people who’ve made my time here so amazing.”

He will end the campaign with 11 appearances with eight of these run-outs taking place at Adams Park.

A fitting end to the ex-Cardiff City man who has given the Wycombe fans many memories over the last 10 years.

His final appearance will be against Charlton Athletic on April 27, with the fixture kicking off at 12.30.
