Alan Forrest admits Hearts' record against Rangers simply isn't good enough after their latest Hampden defeat.

The Jambos failed to record a first win in 17 attempts over Gers at Hampden as their dreams of reaching the Scottish Cup Final ended in a damp squib on Sunday. Cyriel Dessers' double proved enough as the Light Blues made it five wins from five against Steven Naismith's side this season.

Incredibly, Hearts haven't emerged victorious against the Ibrox side since before Covid with their last win against them coming in February 2020 when current boss Naisy was a player. The Jam Tarts have one last chance to get one over Philippe Clement's men when the Treble-chasers visit Tynecastle on the last day of the Premiership season and Forrest admits his side have a major point to prove.

He said: "Yeah, definitely. We will prepare the same way for that game. We will treat every game the same, whether our position in the league is set or not. That doesn't change anything.

"The way we treat Rangers in the last game of the season will be no different. We have a good group in there and all the boys will be up for it. Our record against Rangers isn't great but from our play on Sunday, you could see there was a belief. We didn't fear them or anything.

"Yes, our record against them isn't great so people will maybe say that, but if you look at Sunday there was no fear. We had belief when we were planning for Sunday and it was down to fine margins.

"Unfortunately, we didn't take our chances. I see progression. We went toe to toe with Rangers on Sunday and it's just about taking our chances."
