Miller was part of the Arsenal side that won the FA Youth Cup in 1988 and started his senior career with the Gunners, making a handful of senior appearances and embarking upon loan spells with the likes of Plymouth, West Brom and Birmingham.
Miller - who was capped by England at Under-21 level - was also a member of the Arsenal squads that won the FA Charity Shield in 1991 as well as the 1993 FA Cup/League Cup domestic double and the 1994 European Cup Winners’ Cup in Copenhagen.
He joined Middlesbrough in 1994 and immediately helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League before moving to West Brom following another loan spell in 1997.
Miller spent three years with the Baggies before heading to Blackburn, where he picked up another League Cup winners’ medal in 2002 following the win over Tottenham in Cardiff.

Miller’s passing was confirmed on Thursday night, with West Brom tweeting: “We are desperately saddened to learn of the passing of former goalkeeper Alan Miller. Our thoughts are with Alan’s family and friends at this terribly sad time.”

Former Arsenal stalwart Lee Dixon was among those to pay tribute to his former team-mate on social media, writing: “Devastated to hear the news that our team mate Alan Miller has passed away. He was one of life’s good guys. What a man. Heart of gold. RIP my friend.”
