Alan Shearer has claimed he doesn't think Alexander Isak will leave Newcastle this summer.

Chelsea have explored an extraordinary move for the Sweden international as they look to bring in an established centre forward. Reports this week have suggested that the Blues are ready to break their club record transfer fee and fork out in excess of the £115million they spent to bring in Moises Caicedo last year.

Newcastle are desperate to keep Isak with Arsenal having cooled their interest in the striker. It had even been reported on Saturday that the Blues were discussing an extraordinary deal that could see Nicolas Jackson head to St James' Park as part of a player-plus-cash deal, despite hitting 17 goals last season.

However, Shearer is confident that the Magpies will keep hold of Isak this summer. He told Betfair: "I'm not that worried. I don’t think he’ll leave. I don’t think it can happen. Newcastle supporters would go mad if it happened.

"What he’s brought to Newcastle and how good a player he is, I’m not sure Chelsea could afford him either. I’ve seen the reports and I don’t think there’s anything in that at all. I’d be amazed, angry and disappointed if he left Newcastle."

Newcastle had been under pressure to sell before June 30 to comply with profit and sustainability regulations, but it's now looking like they are set to cash in on two players to help meet requirements. Talented winger Yankuba Minteh is set to move to Brighton for £33m, while Elliot Anderson is joining Nottingham Forest for £35m.

As for Chelsea, the Blues have already signed three players this summer. Defender Tosin Adarabioyo became his first arrival in a free transfer from Fulham before a move for talented Brazilian winger Estevao Willian - who won't join until 2025 - was confirmed last week. Then on Saturday, a £19m switch for young midfielder Omari Kellyman to arrive from Aston Villa was announced.

More incomings are being eyed, however. The Blues are in talks with Leicester over a possible £35m move for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
