Alexander Sarnavskiy Out of Bellator Lightweight Semifinals with Broken Hand

Bellator 101 TV Ratings Hit Season High Peak Audience of 932,000 Viewers

Bellator lightweight semifinalist Alexander Sarnavskiy is out of the tournament with a fractured hand, according to Bellator MMA CEO Bjorn Rebney.

Jason Fischer steps in to take his place in the semifinal bout against David Rickels. The other semifinal bout pits Will Brooks vs. Saad Awad. The tournament winner will move on to a title shot.

The lightweight belt is currently wrapped around the waist of Michael Chandler, who made the first defense of his belt at the recent Bellator 85 in California.

The lightweight semifinals take place on Feb. 28 at Bellator 91 in New Mexico. Bellator light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu headlines the event, putting his belt on the line against Attila Vegh.

This was Sarnavskiy’s second attempt at the lightweight tournament. He lost a split decision to UFC veteran Rich Clementi in the Season 7 quarterfinals.

Sarnavskiy submitted Thiago Michel at Bellator 87 just two weeks ago to earn his spot in the semifinal round. The tournament format, however, is unforgiving.
