Former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is poised to end his miserable spell at Santos by securing a return to Colombia.

Morelos spent almost five months without a club following his Ibrox exit before eventually joining Brazilian side Santos last September. But the 28-year-old has endured a woeful year as Pele's old club suffered relegation from the top-flight for the first time in their history.

Club president Marcelo Teixeira admitted in March that Santos were keen to rip up El Bufalo's contract early - despite halving his salary to around £19,000 a week in the wake of their shock demotion.

Under contract until December 2026, Morelos remains on the books but hasn't featured in almost a month for the Serie B outfit. And with just two goals in 11 appearances, the Brazilians are desperately attempting to offload one of their highest earners.

Now, they could be about to get their wish with ambitious America de Cali opening talks over a potential move back to his homeland. America de Cali view Morelos as a potential marquee signing as they attempt to climb up the Primera A table, where they currently sit in 10th place.
