Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has rejected the chance to play with Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr and remains "very happy" at Anfield.

Alisson, 31, is considered one of the best goalkeepers in world soccer and has established himself as one of the greatest in Liverpool's history since joining the club back in 2018. With the summer transfer window set to open on June 14, teams are starting to express significant interest in Alisson with Al-Nassr reportedly making a massive offer for the goalkeeper.

With significant wages on offer in Saudi Arabia and the appeal of a tax-free environment, teams are facing an increasingly tough battle to keep hold of star players. But according to Football Insider, Liverpool doesn't have to worry about Alisson as the goalkeeper has already rejected an approach and remains committed to the Premier League team.

Alisson's current contract with Liverpool runs through 2027, after signing an extension in August 2021. Alisson has since stated that his family is extremely happy in Liverpool, and he feels a special connection with the club after helping him through a dark time.

Liverpool broke the bank to sign Alisson, as it was clear they needed a new goalkeeper after Loris Karius struggled to deal with the pressures of the Champions League final in 2017-18. Karius had made his case to be No. 1 during the season, but was out of his depth during a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid, making two errors in the final.

Alisson had faced Liverpool in the previous round with former team AS Roma and was already gaining traction as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. Liverpool paid a then-record $85 million to sign Alisson and used the remainder of its funds from selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona to sign defender Virgil van Dijk.

The pair have been crucial to Liverpool's recent success under Klopp and will solidify the team under new head coach Arne Slot as he looks to impose a new philosophy. Alisson has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup at Liverpool, but was rocked by the sudden death of his father.

Alisson's father died aged 57 in 2021 after drowning at his property in Brazil, but due to the pandemic, it was difficult for him to fly home and attend the funeral. Alisson's wife was also pregnant, and Liverpool was chasing a Champions League spot.

Former head coach Klopp said he would do anything to get Alisson home, and the club offered to support him during the season. Alisson made the tough decision to stay in Liverpool and care for his heavily pregnant wife, as his brother was there to support their mother in Brazil. Alisson feels forever grateful for Liverpool and for Klopp.

"Jurgen is a really special guy for me personally. At the darkest moments of my life, when I lost my dad, he was really close to me," Alisson told Sky Sports after Klopp left as Liverpool coach. "He helped me a lot. Not only that, but I improved as a man, as a father, and as a friend.

"Having a leader like him, we have to follow people, good people, and I'm so glad that I could have a manager and a leader like him." Klopp was emotional hearing Alisson's words, as the pair were visibly close during their time together at Liverpool.

Poetically, just months after Alisson's father passed, the goalkeeper became a hero for Liverpool and saved its season, scoring a 95th-minute winner against West Brom on May 16, 2021, to secure Champions League qualification. Alisson went up for the late corner and became the first Liverpool goalkeeper to ever score a competitive goal, through its 132-year history.

It was an emotional moment as Alisson looked up to the heavens for his father, and the entire team ran to celebrate with the goalkeeper. Liverpool ended up reaching the final of the Champions League next season but lost 1-0 to Real Madrid in Paris thanks to a Vinicius Jr. goal.
