Alisson Becker pays emotional tribute to Jurgen Klopp ahead of Liverpool exit

Alisson Becker has paid an emotional tribute to Jurgen Klopp ahead of the German’s exit as Liverpool boss.

Klopp announced back in January that he would leave Anfield at the end of the season after nine years in charge of the Reds. He will oversee his final game as Liverpool boss when they host Wolves on Sunday.

The 56-year-old has firmly established as one of the club’s greatest ever managers, having won every major honour during his time with the Reds - including the Premier League, Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Klopp signed Alisson in a £65m deal from AS Roma in the summer of 2018, with the Brazilian proving himself to be one of the manager's greatest ever transfers.

The goalkeeper is understandably sad to see Klopp depart after six years working together. And Alisson has opened up on his close relationship with Klopp.

"Klopp had a huge impact on my career,” Alisson told ESPN Brasil. “He was the guy who provided all of this, being able to experience everything I've experienced in recent years in football, reaching this high level, getting to where I am, achieving what I've achieved.

"He was the guy who opened the doors for me, because Liverpool gave me these achievements. I have a very good relationship with him. We have a compatibility of beliefs, our vision of the world is practically similar and even our vision of football So, I believe this makes coexistence easier.

"I believe in what he believes. So what he asks, not only for me, but for the athletes here, is a rule, because we believe in what he says. We've seen it work, and when you see it work, he wants to do it again, he knows that what he is saying is the best for the group.

"He's a guy who, personally, helped me a lot in difficult times. When I lost my father, he was a guy who was by my side very closely. So the respect, affection and admiration I have for him is very great.

“Unfortunately his time here at Liverpool is coming to an end, but that's life. Not everything lasts forever.”
