Amadou Diawara's agent claims Arsenal are interested in the AS Roma midfielder, who is "pleased" by recent transfer links.

Diawara, 23, has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks, with a potential swap deal involving Lucas Torreira mooted.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has been on the lookout for a new midfielder, though Mohamed Elneny has been given a chance to re-establish himself after starting in the Community Shield win against Liverpool on Saturday.

Torreira's future at Arsenal seems uncertain, with the 24-year-old looking for regular first-team football.

Diawara made 30 appearances for AS Roma last season, and it is unlikely that the Giallorossi would let the Guinea international leave on the cheap - but his agent admits recent transfer speculation has made his client proud.

Diawara's agent, Daniele Piraino, told Tuttomercatoweb: "He is concentrated on his career.

"Diawara is at a top club like Roma, where he is happy, as there is enthusiasm around the new owners.

"However, he is also liked by many clubs in England, including Arsenal.

"Being linked with certain clubs is pleasing for him, as these are prestigious sides.

"Amadou is concentrated on football and his career."
