Anderson Silva Officially Suspended by Nevada Athletic Commission
The Nevada Athletic Commission on Tuesday issued former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva a temporary suspension pending a full disciplinary hearing before the commission at its March meeting. The date of the March meeting has not yet been set.
The move formally institutes a temporary suspension related to multiple failed drug tests in relation to his UFC 183 headlining bout with Nick Diaz. Silva won the bout.
Silva first tested positive in a Jan. 9 out-of-competition drug test, where his results revealed anabolic steroid metabolites for Drostanolone and Androstane.

After testing clean in a Jan. 19 out-of-competition test, Silva then again tested positive for Drostanolone, in addition to Oxazepam and Temazepam, two benzodiazepine class drugs commonly used to treat anxiety-related insomnia.
Silva has never before tested positive for banned substances during his near-twenty-year career.
Silva, however, joins two of his Black House teammates in having tested positive for Drostanolone within the past year.
Kevin Casey, at UFC 175, and Brian Ortega, at UFC on FOX 12, both tested positive for Drostanolone last July. They were both fined, suspended, and had their victories overturned and ruled no-contests.
