Andries Ulderink set for Rangers assistant role as Philippe Clement bolsters backroom staff

Andries Ulderink is set to join Philippe Clement's backroom staff at Rangers.

The Ibrox boss is looking to bolster his assistants with an assault on the Premiership title planned for next season after Celtic lifted the trophy last term. The manager currently has Stephan Van Der Heyden as his number two while Alex Rae is also working with the management duo. The latter, however, is out of contract this summer with questions remaining as to whether or not he will remain in Glasgow, albeit he returned to Auchenhowie with the squad this morning.

Royal Antwerp second in command Ulderink joined the staff as they returned to pre-season training this morning and he arrives with plenty of experience.

He was Jaap Stam's assistant at Reading in 2016 before he moved to Ajax Cape Town in South Africa and then Twente.

The Dutchman, 54, has been coaching for almost 30 years having not played professionally at any high level. He's been working in recent years as Mark van Bommel's assistant at Antwerp in Belgium but is now looking for a new challenge and Ibrox is calling.
