Andy Robertson defends Scotland teammate Tony Ralston after Celtic man's Switzerland error

Andy Robertson has leapt to the defence of Tony Ralston for his role in Switzerland's equaliser - and praised the Scotland right wing-back for his recovery.

The Celtic star had possession of the ball in the build-up to Xherdan Shaquir's wonderstrike but was slack and played it through to the attacker to present him with the chance. Ralston didn't have a good first half in general and didn't look comfortable, but continued to work hard and recovered to do much better in the first half.

His captain has admitted it was a mistake from the 25-year-old but hailed for him the mentality in staying strong to see the game out, when others may have crumbled. Robbo also feels Scotland can be happy with some aspects of their play but also look to do some things better on Sunday.

He told BBC Sport: "It was much more like us. We got off to a great start and then we made a mistake. Not many people come back from that, it was difficult for Anthony but he came back from that.

"We left everything out here. We can take a lot of positives but we can improve even more and hopefully you see that on Sunday."
