Ange Postecoglou has given Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg the green light to depart Tottenham in this summer's transfer window. The Denmark international has been strongly linked to an exit in recent trading periods with Atletico Madrid seeing their move break down for the 28-year-old last summer.

Despite that, interest from the Spanish capital remains with Fulham, Juventus and Napoli also being linked to the midfielder with the expectation still that he will leave. The latest club to emerge as an interested party were Fenerbahce with the move likely greenlit by new manager Jose Mourinho following his time with Hojbjerg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Hojbjerg has just one year remaining on his current contract and as such, Postecoglou has sanctioned a potential exit. According to Sunday's edition of the Daily Star, Hojbjerg will be allowed to leave this summer with Mourinho eyeing a reunion in Turkiye.

To sign the former Southampton man, £20million has been suggested as the asking price with Atletico now financially capable of completing the signing with Memphis Depay and Stevan Savic no longer on their books. On Sunday, Atletico will be able to get a closer look at Hojbjerg as he is expected to start for Denmark in their Euro 2024 opener against Slovenia.

For his national team, Hojbjerg plays a more advanced role with that fact clearly showcased by the fact he scored against both Norway and Sweden in pre-tournament friendlies. In terms of replacements for Hojbjerg, Spurs have a plethora of talented options from the academy likely keen to make the step-up with 18-year-old Tyrese Hall one of those.

In the Daily Star's report it was also noted that Ben Davies and Oliver Skipp could leave this summer with Spurs ready to listen to offers. With both players classed as homegrown, it may actually be worth keeping onto them as the Lilywhites prepare for the Europa League where it is very important to include locally-trained players in their squad.

With those concerns in mind, interest in Chelsea and England midfielder Conor Gallagher makes perfect sense. Tottenham considering a sensational move to re-sign Marcus Edwards in an attempt to keep on top of their homegrown issues, as football.london understands, is another transfer based around those worries.
