England winger Anthony Gordon suffered a graze to his chin after falling off his bike at the team’s Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land camp.

Gordon, 23, trained with the rest of the squad on Thursday as Gareth Southgate’s players returned to the training pitches after an indoor warm-down session the day after sealing top place in Group C with a draw against Slovenia.

Players have been using electric push-bikes as part of their warm-downs on the grounds of their team hotel, with Gordon suffering a noticeable graze to his face and red marks on his hands and wrists.

Gordon was brought on in the final minutes of the Slovenia clash and has been staking a claim for inclusion against Slovakia on Sunday in Gelsenkirchen for the round of 16 clash.

While Gordon was able to train fully, Declan Rice and Kieran Trippier were not with the rest of the squad and trained on their own to a separate programme. Both played in the goalless draw against Slovenia, with Trippier managing a calf issue during the tournament.

Trippier has been filling in at left-back, on the opposite flank to his usual position, while Luke Shaw has been out recovering from a hamstring problem. But Shaw has stepped up his training and was with the other members of the squad, with hopes he would start full work from today.

Phil Foden was also absent from training as he returned home temporarily for the birth of his third child.

Other decisions for Gareth Southgate include whether to start Kobbie Mainoo or Cole Palmer, who impressed against Slovenia off the bench.

“That is what we saw [from Palmer] in training,” said Southgate straight after the match. “We have good players in the squad and don’t feel we should hesitate to use them. He showed a real composure and has a real calm manner about him and that showed in the way he and Kobbie came into the game as two very young players.”
