Arne Slot could make his first Liverpool signing as head coach in the next 48 hours ahead of the June 30 financial deadline. With several Premier League clubs in danger of breaking profit and sustainability rules, raising funds through exits has become crucial while still in this financial year.

Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest were thought to be the English clubs most at risk of breaching financial regulations with all of them having been active since the summer window opened. Meanwhile at Anfield, Slot is yet to activate any major plans, though links to several players have emerged.

Bologna and Italy star Riccardo Calafiori has been said to be of interest following the exit of Joel Matip at the end of his contract, and considering the exit links surrounding several wingers, Anthony Gordon, Federico Chiesa, Johan Bakayoko and Nico Williams have been mooted as potential transfer options for Liverpool.

With that in mind, here's a look at three transfers Liverpool could make for Slot before June 30 with a number of clubs still at risk.

Anthony Gordon

With Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah all at the centre of exit rumours, signing a new winger could become a priority for Slot, with Newcastle's Gordon an option. While at Euro 2024 in Germany with England, the 23-year-old has reportedly emerged as a player of interest to Liverpool.

The Magpies' financial worries are well-known and with Alexander Isak or Bruno Guimaraes unlikely to depart in a marquee sale, Gordon could be the player sacrificed if serious concerns remain. As such, the Reds could take advantage and sign Gordon in a potential cut-price deal.

Agreeing a fee in such a short space of time could be a challenge but if Newcastle do need to sell and obtain funds quickly, Gordon to Liverpool could advance very quickly.

Trevoh Chalobah

If no major departures occur, Liverpool appear rather set for the new season, however strengthening in defence could remain a priority. Following the departure of Matip at the end of his contract, signing a new centre-back may well be an aim.

As the Reds prepare for a return to the Champions League, adding English players would help ease any potential homegrown issues. With that in mind, Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah fits into that category and is available this summer.

Liverpool have previously tried to convince Levi Colwill to leave Stamford Bridge but it was Chalobah who played in defence for the Blues' superb end to the 2023/24 campaign. Because of that and the arrival of Tosin Adarabioyo, Liverpool could push for Chalobah to add needed depth at the back.

Lucas Digne

Liverpool have an array of options at left-back but there could be an excellent opportunity to sign Lucas Digne from Aston Villa. Amid the impending arrival of Ian Maatsen with Villa's financial concerns still somewhat present, Digne could be eyeing an exit and Liverpool could thus take advantage.

If both can move past his Everton links - like Gordon - it would be an astute signing with depth no longer an issue at full-back. Behind Andy Robertson is Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez, though the latter can play in every position across the backline.

That could present some issues regarding minutes but considering how Liverpool fell short towards the end of last season's title race, having at least two excellent options in every position, while also having versatile options, it is very important.
