Antonio Conte gets international break boost Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon left out of Spain squad

New Tottenham boss Antonio Conte will have a number of first-team players available to work with during the international break after the likes of Sergio Reguilon, Steven Bergwijn and Tanguy Ndombele were all left out of their respective national team squads.

Conte was appointed as Nuno Espirito Santo’s replacement earlier this week and took charge of his first game on Thursday night as Spurs beat Vitesse Arnhem 3-2 in the Europa Conference League.

He will be in the dugout for a Premier League game for the first time since leaving Chelsea when Tottenham go to Everton on Sunday, but then faces a frustrating lull early in his tenure as players head off for the final set of international fixtures of 2021.

Reguilon was in Spain’s squad for the Uefa Nations League finals last month but did not feature in either game and has been dropped by Luis Enrique for the World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Sweden.

Bergwijn missed the last international break because of an ankle problem, having featured twice for the Netherlands in September, but has not been recalled by Louis van Gaal after returning from injury.

Ndombele, meanwhile, has once again been ignored by Didier Deschamps, having won the last of his seven caps for France in March.

As well as that trio, the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Eric Dier will all report for training at Hotspur Way having long fallen out of favour with England, while Lucas Moura has not played for Brazil since 2018.
