The couple competed against each other on the 16th series of the BBC show last year, with Harpreet triumphing after Akshay was fired following the ninth task.
The pair got together after filming was completed, with Akshay announcing their engagement with a photo via Instagram earlier today (May 29).
"I would find you in any lifetime," he wrote in the caption. "Our journey began in the most unexpected way. Now it’s time to begin our forever chapter. She said yes. Thank you to everyone who helped me create this special moment @the_proposalplanners @londondiamonddealer @shivaniphotography."
The stunning photo was taken on a rooftop in London, with Akshay getting on one knee in front of a "Will you marry me" sign. Harpreet, who was wearing a glamorous dress, was surrounded by fireworks and rose petals as she accepted the proposal.
The most recent series of The Apprentice concluded recently, and Lord Alan Sugar revealed that producers will look to tone down the intensity in the final round of interviews after some controversy.
"I think we need to tone that down a bit. I found it hard to watch," he said. "Unfortunately when that was recorded, I wasn’t there. Anyway, I’m not making any excuses. When I saw it in the end, I thought, 'This is too harsh', and we’re going to tone it down now.
"I don’t think it’s entertaining. It used to be entertaining. All the previous boardroom [episode] 11s were entertaining. This one was very harsh. I’ve told them [the advisors] now. Believe me, it won’t be happening again."
The Apprentice airs on BBC One, with spin-off series You're Fired airing immediately afterwards on BBC Two.
