Any Tottenham fans with doubts over Archie Gray's ability may want to rewatch the midfielder's performance against Chelsea back in February. After progressing past Plymouth Argyle in an FA Cup fourth round replay, Leeds United's prize for a 4-1 victory in Devon was a mouth-watering showdown against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Given Leeds' fine performances in the Championship coupled with the Blues' struggles in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino, many fans sensed a famous FA Cup upset on the cards. Fielding a fairly strong XI days after their Carabao Cup final defeat against Liverpool, Chelsea were given an almighty scare by Leeds.

Initially taking the lead through Mateo Joseph in the eighth minute before Chelsea went in 2-1 up at the break, Joseph netted his second of the game on the hour mark and the tie appeared to be heading into extra-time. However, there was a late twist in the tale with substitute Conor Gallagher scoring a 90th-minute winner to break Leeds hearts.

Chelsea were pushed right until the end by their Championship opponents, with Gray an influential figure for Daniel Farke's side over the course of the 90 minutes. Having operated as a right-back from the start of October onwards after previously starting the season in midfield, Gray switched back to his natural position in the FA Cup tie.

Paired alongside former Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu in the middle of the park, Gray was not overawed by coming up against £220million duo Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. In fact, it only spurred him on as he delivered a performance that belied his tender years.

The then 17-year-old outshone his Blues counterparts and duly came out with the player of the match award following an incredible performance. Rated incredibly highly by all at Elland Road, Gray demonstrated to all watching on across the country that he can indeed cut it against the Premier League's best.

In terms of his numbers from the match (via FotMob), Gray registered a pass completion rate of 93 per cent after achieving 40 of his 43 passes, he was successful with four of his six dribbles, he made four passes into the final third, created one chance, made six recoveries and won six of his duels. It was no surprise at all to see him collect the player of the match gong after showcasing to everyone just what a talent he is.

Gray scored incredibly highly in Leeds Live's player ratings from the game after achieving a score of nine out of ten. They wrote: "A performance beyond his years. Not the first time this season it has felt like he came of age, but in this company, to run a second half at Stamford Bridge at 17 was pretty special. Breathtaking talent. Never seemed fazed or rushed by anything in the busiest part of the pitch. Instrumental to United's second-half renaissance."

Gray will now get the opportunity to test himself on a weekly basis in the Premier League next season after Tottenham made their move to sign him after a switch to Brentford fell apart late on. Set to be one of a number of options in midfield for Ange Postecoglou next term, the head coach will have quite the decision on his hands with a number of talented players to pick from.

There should certainly be no doubts about whether or not Gray has what it takes to make it in the Premier League, with his performance against Chelsea back in February very much proving that he can flourish for Tottenham in England's top flight.
