Arizona's Ayton declares for NBA draft

Arizona freshman center Deandre Ayton announced Wednesday that he is declaring for the NBA draft.

The 7-foot-1 Ayton, who could be the No. 1 overall pick of the draft, made the announcement on his Twitter account.

"I'm so blessed for the opportunity I had at Arizona, and I'm excited to announce I will be entering the 2018 NBA Draft!" Ayton tweeted.

Ayton was named Pac-12 Player of the Year after averaging 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. He shot 61.2 percent from the field, blocked 66 shots and recorded a school-record 24 double-doubles.

Ayton grew up in the Bahamas and is appreciative of where things stand per his future.

"I'm just a kid from the Bahamas who came to the States when I was 12 years old with a dream," Ayton tweeted. "I can't say anything about this journey other than that it's God's Plan."
