Arne Slot can't sell four Liverpool players and I know how Darwin Nunez must feel

I don’t know much about Arne Slot, truth be told. I only know that he’s done a good job where he is.

He apparently passes the criteria for Liverpool in whatever way, I don’t know where. He’s the one to come out the pack who no-one anticipated. You’ve just got to trust the owners and the people in place to pick him.

I don’t know what to expect, I really don’t know. Whenever you change manager, it’s always a massive risk for any club. Man City when Pep Guardiola goes, see what happens there.

We’ve seen it with Manchester United when Sir Alex Ferguson left. They dive-bombed and haven’t been back since. We just have to hope that we’ve got the right man to take over and keep it going on.

I think we were all surprised because he wasn’t even in the running. Whether it’s a good thing or not, we don’t know.

It’s always going to be a risk, when a manager goes and another one comes in. We’ve seen that ourselves with certain managers in the past too.

Jurgen came in and did a great job so you want it to continue smoothly. You don’t want him to all of a sudden come in and get rid of four players, then bring four players in.

What’s happened in the past month, that doesn’t make us a bad team. We’ve got really good players, really good young players.

Everything is in place, except we don’t know the management and staff yet. They’ve got to try and take it over comfortably.

Too many changes, it’s like baking a cake. You put in the wrong ingredients and it goes wrong. It’s got to be done in the right manner, and that’s down to the owners and Michael Edwards, to make sure the change goes smoothly.

Obviously there are going to be new players coming in, maybe Mo going out and one or two other players. We don’t know. You don’t want to see too much happening all of a sudden because we have got a really good team, a really good squad.

We’ve not scored goals for the last month or so and that’s what has cost us. We’ve missed far too many chances. It’s there in black and white, everyone knows. The forwards haven’t been doing well, but they did well prior to that.

You don’t become a bad player overnight and you don’t become a bad team overnight.

It’s not just Darwin Nunez

There’s been a lot of scrutiny regarding Darwin Nunez and his long-term future at the club, but that’s not for me.

The crowd love him, he’s a crowd favourite. They want to see him succeed, he wants to succeed.

But when you’re going through bad spells as a striker, it’s hard. We were hoping that he was going to get better in front of goal but he’s the same. He’s settled in more now.

He perhaps should be doing better, but he knows that. People are jumping all over his case but next year it could be different. He could get those 20 league goals.

That’s what he’s got to do, that’s what he’s paid to do. If you don’t do that, and they’ve paid a lot of money for you, questions do get asked. It’s only natural.

But it’s not just him. It’s been Mo, it’s been Diaz, it’s been Gakpo, it’s been everyone missing chances and missing sitters.

And it’s not just one game. We’ve had more shots than any other team in Europe. The stats are not good. They are there to be seen.

When you are winning well, you have strikers scoring 20 plus league goals. We haven’t had that and we’ve squandered so many chances, unbelievably so. The two goals at the weekend, one was Robbo and one was a freak deflection own goal.

From Man United in the League and the FA Cup, and it’s just got worse. The players have put pressure on themselves. I’ve been there myself and it’s not good. It’s not been good.
