Arne Slot and Liverpool could receive some brilliant transfer news this summer, with it having nothing to do with the team itself.

With Euro 2024 fully underway, one name to look out for is Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne. The 33-year-old has one year left on his contract with City and there have not been any talks of an extension as of yet. However, while De Bruyne has maintained he is planning to stay at City, he did indicate what it would take for him to leave the club.

Before Belgium's last-16 clash with France, De Bruyne told Het Nieuwsblad, in no uncertain terms, what would need to happen for him to take a flight to Saudi Arabia. Although he reiterated he had money, De Bruyne added he wouldn't mind more to help those closest to him.

"Yes, (I'll stay at City)," he began. "I've read a lot of headlines about a transfer, but I haven't spoken to anyone. I saw him (Michael Emanalo, Sporting Director of the Saudi Pro League) at the Club World Cup. I know Michael - then it makes sense for us to have a chat. But it wasn't about that."

De Bruyne claimed he will be enjoying his free time before making a decision about his contract. "I'll have a quiet summer," he added. "I’ll enjoy my holidays and will return to Man City afterwards. I assume there will be talks with City in the upcoming months.

"I signed my contract at the right time. If there's a good offer and you tell Pep (Guardiola) you want to leave, then it is possible. This may be different at other clubs. But I have never indicated that I want to leave.

"I have more than enough money. But if an absurd amount comes then it is also for my family, my relatives, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren and my friends."

De Bruyne also has said in the past that he is open to all options, telling Belgian media: "Saudi? At my age you have to be open to everything. You talk about unbelievable amounts in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that.”

Should De Bruyne elect to join the Saudi Pro League, it would mark a much-needed break for Slot and Liverpool. Taking over for Jurgen Klopp, Slot certainly will appreciate if City will lose an integral piece of its club. Since joining City in 2015, De Bruyne has won the Champions League, six Premier League titles, five League Cups and two FA Cups and is only one of 18 players to have scored at least 100 goals for the side.

With De Bruyne and Guardiola, City have won the Premier League in six of the last seven seasons. Liverpool stopped City's incredible run, besting the club by an impressive season of its own and if the Belgian departs, the title race will be wide open.

With the news of De Bruyne's potential price to leave City, many fans took to X to express their delight, if he were to join Cristiano Ronaldo and others in Saudi Arabia.

"On behalf of other Premier League clubs, I humbly beg you to leave," one fan posted. "The evil you've done is enough." Another fan applauded the Belgian's upfront approach to the situation, writing: "At least he's honest," with a laughing emoji.
