Liverpool's summer transfer window has been quiet to date, as Arne Slot's tenure has started conservatively.

The Dutchman arrives from Feyenoord with a big task on his hands to replace Jurgen Klopp. The departed German head coach was a huge presence at Anfield and had a big impact on all aspects of the club.

Slot's role with the Reds shall vary, though, as FSG recruited the 45-year-old as a head coach, with jobs like player recruitment outsourced to the sporting directors. However, in our latest look at the media headlines, it appears Slot will still be sending clear instructions to those above him about what he wants.

Slot's clear instructions

In a recent interview with The Athletic, Slot's former scout in the Netherlands Christos Akkas has explained how hands on his old boss is with recruitment.

He said: "The coach was very specific about what he wants to play. And we were able to capture from a data perspective, from a scouting perspective, but also from a mental, physical, technical, tactical perspective, exactly how he wants to play.

"And then the club set some rules. So we never sign an older or more expensive player than the one who is being replaced."

What the ECHO says: The issue with a head coach role for many managers is that they fear they will lose their influence over key decisions at the club. However, in this case, FSG clearly have a clear structure in place to ensure transfers work effectively, not like we have seen at other clubs, where transfers can often be all over the place with too many voices having their say.

Salah future claim

In a recent interview with bet365, former midfielder Paul Ince believes he saw a change in Salah last season and that he will be considering his future closely this summer.

"When the talk started to come out about Mohamed Salah going to Saudi at the back end of last season and how much they were prepared to pay him, I thought his form dropped," he said.

"He wasn't the Salah of old. I think you've got to understand, Salah has been absolutely immense for Liverpool. Absolutely immense, year after year after year, scoring so many goals.

"But in the last three or four months of the season he looked a bit tired, a little bit jaded. He didn't look himself and his touch wasn't there.

"It's a tricky one because he's so important to Liverpool Football Club and has been for so many years. But when Kevin De Bruyne talks about potentially going to Saudi, other players are thinking exactly the same thing.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Salah did go to Saudi, but I hope he stays because he's such a special player and because the manager wants him."

What the ECHO says: Salah is a huge figure at Liverpool and has played an instrumental role in the club's recent success. There is no doubt that he is highly regarded at the club. However, just like Manchester City will be doing with Kevin De Bruyne, the Reds will be planning for life without him and ensuring a proper succession is in place for when the time comes for the forward to depart.
