Arne Slot will be determined to put his own twist on the Liverpool team this summer. The Dutchman has big shoes to fill at Anfield following Jurgen Klopp's departure, so he'll be eager to welcome a few new faces to the club and implement his own style.

The Reds have already been linked with some big names lately, like Jeremie Frimpong and Joao Neves. Meanwhile, a few Liverpool players face increasingly uncertain futures; Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold all see their deals expire in June 2025.

With the trio entering the final year of their contracts, Slot will be working overtime to tie them down to new deals. So, with that being said, the Liverpool Echo has rounded up the latest transfer news and gossip.

Liverpool plot Benfica swoop

Liverpool could be about to hijack Bernardo Silva's dream transfer for Manchester City. According to Portuguese publication CM Jornal, the Reds have identified Joao Neves as a priority signing this summer.

The 19-year-old midfielder continues to be heavily linked with an exit from Benfica following his impressive performances in the Primeira Liga this season. The report states that Liverpool are expected to make a proposal for both the player and the club in the coming days.

CM Jounal added that the Reds know that signing Neves won't be easy, with Benfica adamant that the teenager's €120m (£101m) release clause must be met. Earlier this month, Silva urged his fellow countryman to join Manchester City and not Manchester United.

Ederson deadline pushed back

Ederson has revealed that he will delay a decision on his future until after the Copa America. The Atalanta star has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool for a while now as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his options in midfield.

Should Brazil reach the Copa America final, Ederson will wait to explore his options until after July 15. Speaking to Spanish publication AS, he said: "It always happens when the market opens that speculation comes with it, not only about my future, but also for many players.

"When I received my call, I told my wife and my agents: 'Look, now I’m going to the national team, so you have to deal with what comes and what doesn’t come'.

"Now I’m going to focus on the national team, it’s my first call-up, so I have to be 100 per cent with my head there. And then I will think about my future."

Liverpool target Frimpong

According to German publication SportBild, Liverpool lodged an enquiry with Bayer Leverkusen regarding a potential deal for Jeremie Frimpong. The 23-year-old defender played a key role in Xabi Alonso's side this season, helping the German club win the Bundesliga unbeaten.

The report states Frimpong has a €40m (£33.7m) release clause in his contract at the BayArena. SportBild add that the release clause expires on Friday despite his deal running until June 2028.

It's said that Barcelona have submitted an offer for the Netherlands international, but it was deemed not enough for Bayer Leverkusen to accept. Frimpong will feature at Euro 2024 this summer.
