Liverpool have been told why Arne Slot has all the foundations to be a success in Jurgen Klopp's footsteps next season.

The Reds finished their campaign last weekend with a 2-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League, which also happened to be Klopp's final match as manager. Klopp will leave the club this summer and will be replaced by Slot, who will take on the role of head coach at Anfield.

Slot will have his own backroom staff at Liverpool with Klopp's team, including assistant managers Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, leaving the club this summer.

Former Liverpool star Steve McMananaman believes that Slot has all the tools to succeed as Reds boss next season. McManaman went on to explain the reasons why everything is set up for Slot to enjoy a first season in charge at Anfield.

"[Success] would be anything like this year to be honest," McManaman said in an interview with TNT Sports. "They should be fighting at the top of the table and battling for all kinds of trophies.

"I love Jurgen and I think he’s an incredible manager but I don’t think there’s a lot of pressure on Arne Slot.

"The players are still brilliant, nobody’s leaving apart from [Joel] Matip and Thiago. Michael Edwards is back, Julian Ward is back, Richard Hughes is back and they’re going to sit above Arne Slot. They’ve already been at work identifying players.

"Liverpool are already in a very healthy position: qualifying for the Champions League, the new stand in the stadium so I think the transition should be relatively seamless."

McManaman did acknowledge that there are still three areas of concern for Liverpool going into this summer. The former Reds favourite explained why he is optimistic about a successful season taking place at Anfield beginning this August.

"I think everything was put in place before Arne Slot came in," said McManaman. "When Sir Alex [Ferguson] left [Manchester United], it was a different scenario with the team but I don’t think Liverpool have any real problems with the team apart from the contract situations of [Mohamed] Salah, Virgil [van Dijk] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold].

"The managerial staff know what they have to do and new players will come in, strengthen the side, the youngsters have been excellent. Some of the lads who have been on loan like Tyler Morton and Fabio Carvalho, they’ll come back into the fold and we’ll see how much they’ve improved.

"I think Liverpool are in a very healthy situation, it’s just the matter of getting the manager in, getting the preseason away and having a look at the players that he wants. That team that finished the game against Wolves the other day, they’re certainly good enough to go again next year."
