Liverpool's full fixture list for the new season has just become clearer after the English Football League (EFL) confirmed its games on Wednesday.

The Reds already found out their full Premier League schedule on Tuesday 18 June, with EFL teams having to wait a further week to find out their fixtures. Dates for this season's Champions League and FA Cup were already confirmed, with Liverpool knowing how they would fall into schedule as a result.

But Arne Slot's side now know dates for this season's League Cup campaign after the EFL released them along with its own members' league fixtures. The EFL has organized the League Cup, known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons, since its inception in 1960.

Liverpool is the reigning holders of the League Cup after defeating Chelsea in last year's final and has won the competition more times than any other side. Consequently, the Reds will be looking to win the tournament for a record 11th time in what would offer Slot his first chance of silverware after succeeding Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.

Due to its participation in the Champions League, Liverpool won't enter the League Cup until the third round. And with fixtures split across two dates, Liverpool's own tie will take place on the week commencing September 22.

The fourth round is scheduled for the week commencing October 27, days after the Reds have travelled to Arsenal in the Premier League, with the quarter-finals then taking place on the week commencing December 15 to kick-off a hectic festive period.

Despite Jurgen Klopp's previous objections, two-legged semi-finals are still a part of the English soccer landscape. However, with the Champions League group stages now extended to eight matchdays, the first legs will be held on the week commencing January 5 and the second legs a month later on the week commencing February 2.

In another scheduling shift, the League Cup final has been moved further back in the English football calendar to Sunday 16 March. Apart from the rescheduled 2021 edition, which was shifted to allow more fans during the Covid-19 pandemic, this is the latest date for the final since 1999.

While Liverpool's opponents for the Champions League group, League Cup third round and FA Cup third round are yet to be determined, Slot's players have a clear view of their preliminary schedule. If Slot can steer his team towards an unlikely quadruple challenge, he could find himself managing up to an incredible 67 matches in his debut season as head coach.

This would equal the longest campaign in Liverpool's history, matching Joe Fagan's treble-winning 1983/84 season. The Reds recently played 63 matches in the 2021/22 season while competing for four major titles, and have only exceeded this number in a single season four times. No wonder Klopp claimed he was running out of energy!
