Arne Slot's face says it all as Liverpool teases new head coach's first interview

Liverpool has teased some new content 'today at 4pm', with an accompanying clip showing Arne Slot sitting down for an interview. It's widely expected that his first remarks as Reds boss are set to be shared in full — but his face has already told a story.

Supporters have been waiting patiently for the first official glimpse of Slot. He was spotted in Ibiza recently, having officially taken charge from June 1, but it seems he's now down to business ahead of pre-season starting on July 1.

It will be the first time a Liverpool head coach not named Jurgen Klopp has addressed fans in almost nine years, going back to the Brendan Rodgers days. But Anfield is now preparing for a seismic change.

The 10-second clip Liverpool has already released shows a member of the club media team asking Slot if he is ready — presumably for the interview, as opposed to the mammoth task of taking charge of England's most successful football club. Michael Edwards and the team will have already answered that in the affirmative when doing their due diligence.

"Yes I am," came the excited reply from Slot. He genuinely sounds as if he cannot wait to get going.

And even from this short taster, the beaming smile on Slot's face gives the game away. Liverpool had other coaches on its radar, and may have given Xabi Alonso more serious thought if he had not decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, but this is a man positively itching to take on the challenge.

Of course, eagerness does not automatically equal success, but Slot has revealed in just three words (and primarily from his facial expressions) that he will be 100 per cent committed to this job. It's clearly the chance of a lifetime for him, and he is ready to go.

Liverpool.com says: Roll on 4pm! It will be exciting to hear from Slot properly for the first time as Liverpool head coach.

From the little we've seen in this clip, it's nice to see his excitement. We don't want to read too much into it, but at least he doesn't seem daunted by the size of the job. He's just happy to have been given the chance, and itching to get underway.
