Victor Osimhen's agent has spoken to Arsenal while a potential move to Chelsea is 'slipping away', it is claimed.

The Napoli striker has been linked with both the Gunners and the Blues for some time with his performances in Naples seeing him become one of Europe's top goalscorers. Osimhen has scored 76 goals across all competitions since joining the Serie A club from Lille in September 2020.

Recent reports from Italy have claimed that Arsenal have submitted a £72m bid for the Nigerian while a separate report from Italy has explained that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has flown to France for a meeting with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

And now Italian journalist Giovanni Scotto is claiming that talks have taken place with the Gunners over a potential move this summer, with Chelsea's chances of securing a deal looking unlikely.

"He will take some time because the Nigerian shouldn't move before July," he wrote in II Roma. "He's waiting for the Premier League, with his agent who has spoken to Arsenal, while Chelsea seems to have slipped away.

"In the background remains Paris Saint Germain and obviously the Saudi Arabia scenarios. This could be the final alternative: Without offers in Europe, it seems certain the Osimhen will receive an offer from either Al Hilal or Al Ahli last summer had one worth 40 million per season."

Mikel Arteta's side are looking to sign a striker this summer as they seek a proven goalscorer to improve their chances of securing a first Premier League title since 2004. Arsenal finished just two points behind champions Manchester City in 2023/24 with Arteta often using Kai Havertz as a false nine instead of a striker.

Brentford's Ivan Toney and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko have both been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. However, Sesko looks set to stay in Germany with recent reports stating that the Slovenian will sign a new contract at the Bundesliga club.
