Arsenal are set to appoint Southend United goalkeeping coach Terry Mason as their new head of academy goalkeeping.

Mason has previously worked at Arsenal, in the role of academy goalkeeping talent ID, and will now return next month.

He comes with a vast amount of experience after a number of years spent working at Southend United.

Mason has also spent time with the England Under-18 setup and his appointment will bolster Arsenal’s academy setup.

The Gunners’ academy is likely to undergo further changes this summer given that Steve Bould, who managed the under-23 side, is leaving.

Arsenal will need a replacement for him, while it is expected further coaches will join the academy this summer too.

Tony Strudwick is also reportedly joining Arsenal from Sheffield Wednesday to take up a role as the academy's head of sports science and medicine.

Strudwick comes with huge experience and also works as the Wales national team’s head of performance.
