Arsenal will head into the 2024/25 season with confidence of finally toppling Manchester City after another impressive 12 months under Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners fell short on the final day after challenging their title rivals throughout the campaign but spirits remain high heading into next year. A new striker and holding midfielder is likely to be added to the squad over the summer, should Arteta get his own way, meaning they will be tipped to compete once again.

Focus right now at the Emirates Stadium will be on recruitment over the next month, but many of the current crop of Arsenal players are away with their international teams ahead of the European Championship and Copa America. David Raya, Aaron Ramsdale, William Saliba, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, Declan Rice, Jorginho, Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka will all compete to become European champions this summer in Germany.

Eight teams in Europe's top five leagues all have more players attending the tournament, one being Manchester City. Pep Guardiola's men have 13 selected for the tournament meaning City will have fewer players back for pre-season than the Gunners.

Of course, it means little but certainly disrupts City's plans early in the summer. The Premier League season kicks-off on August 17 with pre-season expected to start at the start of July.

Depending on how far each nation goes in the tournament, City could we,, welcome back players earlier than Arsenal. However, both teams have players representing many of the nations favourites to lift the trophy.
