Arsenal face battle with Liverpool and Man United for potential Oleksandr Zinchenko replacement

Ferland Mendy of Real Madrid

Arsenal are being linked with a move for Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy.

The Gunners are currently busy battling to try and win the Premier League title. Both Liverpool and Manchester City are also fighting with Arsenal to win the league title across the final weeks of the season.

Despite Arsenal being focused on winning the league, rumours are already circling as to what players the Gunners could sign when the transfer window reopens in the summer. The latest piece of speculation centres around Mendy at Real Madrid.

According to French news outlet L'Equipe, Arsenal are one of several clubs who are interested in signing Mendy. It has been reported that Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle are also considering a move to sign the left-back this summer.

Reports have suggested that Real Madrid could be in the market for a new left-back this summer, with Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies apparently a target. As a result, it has been suggested that Mendy could leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

It remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal would have an advantage over their rivals should they decide to try and sign Mendy.

Arsenal have also been linked with potentially signing a new left-back this summer. Mikel Arteta currently has Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomyasu as the left-back options within his squad, with Jurrien Timber also playing in that role before his injury last August.

No price tag has been suggested for how much Real Madrid would demand in order to sanction Mendy's exit this summer. Mendy joined the La Liga giants in 2019 from Lyon and has gone on to make 165 appearances, and is on the verge of helping the club win the Spanish title.
